As the Sr. Manager of Design, you will lead multiple teams of talented designers including Customer Experience Design, as well as Operational Tools & Service Design. Our operational and internal tools require your leadership in creativity, analytical, visualization, and prototyping skills, and knowledge of user-facing solutions to build internal tools that assist and accelerate our operations teams in running the service. For our experience and service design domains, you will lead the teams to build the best product experiences, launch innovative features, and do so with a customer-centered approach. - Lead the evolution of the end-to-end rider journey, ensuring a cohesive experience across digital and physical touchpoints. - Evangelize design strategy to executive leadership and cross-functional partners - Foster a human-centered design culture that is data-driven, iterative, and inclusive. - Provide creative direction and career coaching, manage org design to ensure optimal support for cross-functional squads - Manage & implement design workflows, resource allocation, and project timelines to ensure the team ships at high velocity without sacrificing craft. - Partner deeply with UX Research & Product peers to translate complex user data into actionable roadmaps & iterations. Qualifications - 10+ years of professional design experience, with at least 3–5 years in a management or lead capacity. - Curiosity, a desire to figure out how to make things better. - Experience driving collaboration, alignment, and affecting outcomes with influence, including at the executive level. Bonus Qualifications - You have led the design of products in a relevant space. - You have experience working with Operations teams. - You know how to thrive in a growing, complex organization. - You know how to deconstruct complex ideas and concepts. $238,000 - $286,000 a year Base Salary Range There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position. UX Researcher, Vehicle Experience Foster City, CA Product – Experience Design / Full-time / Hybrid We are looking for a mixed-method Vehicle Experience Researcher, which will be the glue between the digital interface and the physical cabin experience for Zoox. This role requires a high-velocity researcher who is just as comfortable designing a complex quantitative benchmark study as they are running extensive in-vehicle testing. You will navigate the unique intersection of software and hardware, ensuring that everything of the vehicle works as a single, cohesive system. In this role you will: - Design and execute both qualitative and quantitative research that uncovers core user needs, behaviors, and experience patterns - Synthesize insights into clear frameworks that inform product direction - Contribute to defining principles that guide the evolution of in-vehicle experience - Move beyond individual features to map the entire end-to-end vehicle rider experience journey. - Conduct foundational research in ambiguous, early-stage product areas where the problem space is not well defined. - Design and run robust quant studies to establish experience benchmarks. You will define what "good" looks like and track our progress against those metrics as the vehicle platform and in-cabin experience evolves. - Lead a high volume of testing sessions within the vehicle to validate features. - Investigate how digital touchpoints sync with physical movements and cabin environments. - Partner closely with Product, Design, and Vehicle Engineering - Translate research findings into clear implications for product decisions - Proactively identify opportunities where research can drive impact Qualifications - 7+ years of experience in UX Research, HCI, Human Factors, or a related field - Strong experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods. The ML Platform team at Zoox plays a crucial role in enabling innovations in ML and CV to make autonomous driving as seamless as possible. The Opportunity Are you excited to lead our ML Performance Optimization initiatives and make our Training and Inference platform that enables autonomous driving as fast and efficient as possible? You will get to work across all ML teams within Zoox - Perception, Prediction, Planner, Simulation, Collision Avoidance, and Advanced Hardware Engineering group and have the opportunity to significantly push the boundaries of how ML is practiced within Zoox. We build and operate the base layer of ML tools, deep learning frameworks, and inference systems used by our applied research teams for in- and off-vehicle ML use cases. In this role, you will: Develop and execute a strategic vision for the ML Performance Optimization team to unlock ML innovation in autonomous driving and rider experience. Lead the design, implementation, and operation of cutting-edge ML Training and inference performance optimization techniques. Collaborate closely with x-functional teams, including ML researchers, software engineers, data engineers, and hardware engineers, to define requirements and align on architectural decisions. Qualifications Strong experience with training frameworks like PyTorch, leveraging GPUs efficiently for distributed model training. Experience with GPU-accelerated inference using TensorRT, Ray Serve, or similar frameworks. Experience using profiling tools like NVIDIA's Nsight or PyTorch's Profiler for identifying model training and serving bottlenecks. Proficient in Python and C++ Experience with model compression techniques to reduce model size and improve performance. Bonus Qualifications 10+ years of total experience, including 4+ years of working on large-scale model training or inference platforms. Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to lead high-performing engineering teams.
