Role Description The Analyst will be working on a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of a new canvassing technique, Site-Based Relational Postcards (SBRP). Each day we will receive a flood of data from canvassers, including audio, photos, surveys, GPS, and canvassing interactions. The Analyst will work with the Deputy Director of Research to build and maintain both automated and human-in-the-loop systems to combine, clean, and error check this data. The goal is to catch errors, bad data, or questionable patterns the same day, so they can be addressed in the next day's canvasser feedback. This will likely involve a variety of systems and tools including spreadsheets, SQL queries, and generative AI review and consolidation. This role will require flexibility, creativity, and an openness to trying new practices. The Analyst will have the opportunity to contribute their own ideas and ways of doing things and to help shape the program execution. - Support the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the study's quality control system, reporting to the project’s Data Director. - Monitor daily canvassing data, flagging potential data quality issues. - Create and maintain automated quality control (QC) checks and dashboards, tracking data quality and performance trends over time. - Translate QC insights into clear, actionable feedback for field staff, supporting iteration to training and scripts. - Support audio QA workflows, including synthesizing recordings, reviewing flagged interactions, and improving existing script flow. - Maintain organized documentation of QC processes to support transparency and ability to reproduce inclusion/exclusion criteria. - Prepare cleaned and QC-reviewed datasets for analysis. - Support the Deputy Director of Research and other team members with other responsibilities where needed. Qualifications - Job experience with automated data processing and review OR at least one cycle in a field data management role (electoral campaign, paid canvassing, or allied organization preferred). - Able to jump in and fix anything that goes wrong or breaks (something will). Practical and realistic about identifying and implementing solutions. - Ability to learn to use new tools and practically apply them to repeatable processes. - Proficiency in R or SQL, with the ability to clean, manipulate, and validate large datasets efficiently. - Proficiency in Google Docs and Sheets, and willing to learn tools for team chat (Slack) and task tracking (Asana). - Ability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. - Willing to learn about research methods (voter interviews, observation, testing) and quickly adapt canvassing practices based on learning. - Work a regular Tuesday-Saturday work schedule and be flexible to changes closer to Election Day. - Be available to work daily during the core hours of 10am-4pm PST and be flexible to work different hours occasionally. Requirements - Experience or familiarity with Michigan and/or Ohio political landscapes and community issues (helpful but not required). - Familiarity with experimental design concepts (helpful but not required). - Commitment to the mission of the organization: to design and quickly mainstream field-tested voter engagement innovations to amplify the power of historically disenfranchised communities. - Commitment to understanding and actively opposing racism and promoting equity. - Commitment to working with and for teams of diverse individuals and to reducing disparities in whose voice is heard in the electoral space. - Demonstrated awareness of one’s own cultural identity and ability to build relationships and collaborate across lines of difference. Benefits - $1,911 per week for a five day work week schedule (most likely 35-40 hours per week on a Tuesday to Saturday schedule, days off will vary and flexibility to work some hours on Sundays is a plus). - $28,673 for program duration. - Generous medical, dental, and vision. - Paid time off for all federal holidays and 4.5 days of personal PTO, accrued at a rate of 1.5 days per month. - Five days of sick leave.
