Role Description The Senior Major Gift Officer is a proactive fundraiser and relationship builder, managing a portfolio of prospects with the capacity to support the USGA’s mission with gifts of $50,000 or more. Prospect management includes: - Identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing, and stewarding prospects and donors. - Aligning donor interests with the strategic priorities of the USGA. - Developing and achieving an annual work plan with visit and solicitation goals in partnership with the Chief Philanthropy Officer. The ideal candidate will bring a natural ability to connect with donors and a collaborative approach. Responsibilities include: - Thinking strategically to contribute meaningfully to fundraising goals. - Effectively communicating the USGA’s strategic priorities to inspire support and build new relationships. - Traveling extensively to develop and strengthen prospect relationships. This Senior Major Gift Officer will be assigned either the New York City Metropolitan area or Los Angeles Metropolitan area and can work remotely. Qualifications - 8+ years of progressive fundraising experience in major non-profit organizations, including securing gifts of $50,000+ - An authentically mission-driven person, who aligns with our purpose to unify, showcase, govern, and advance the game of golf. - Proven ability to create and cultivate relationships across a diverse group of prospects. - Superb communication and interpersonal skills are a must. - An appreciation for the game of golf is strongly preferred. - A team player and collaborator. Requirements - Develop and execute a major gifts strategy that drives sustainable growth, managing a portfolio of 150-175 prospects. - In partnership with the Chief Philanthropy Officer, establish annual goals for visits, solicitations, and dollars raised. - Design and develop compelling presentations and pitch decks, conduct prospect research, and lead prospect meetings in support of goals. - Identify, qualify, and cultivate new prospects, driving continuous growth. - Maintain integrity and accuracy of CRM database to track prospects, gift recording, and reporting. - Engage USGA volunteers and committees as a network of major gift referrals and connections. - Prepare donor communications and updates demonstrating impact and progress on strategic priorities. - Provide coaching and feedback to encourage and support high performance of Foundation team members. The Assistant Manager, Championship Agronomy will support the Senior Director, Championship Agronomy and other consulting agronomists, providing championship agronomy services across venues in the United States and Mexico. Conduct pre-site visits for assigned host sites. Data collection for putting greens in support of on-site agronomists for USGA championships and other events. Produce agronomic reports, pre-tournament and post-tournament reports for tournament officials in preferred formats. Data organization and analysis across USGA championships to maintain consistency for all championship reporting. Develop content and make presentations on agronomic and sustainability topics while advancing the Green Section expertise, outreach, and programs available from the USGA. Develop articles as assigned that inform the golfing public (superintendents, golfers, course officials, etc.) on timely agronomic topics related to tournament golf. Maintain a fundamental understanding of the USGA strategic plan and goals for a culture of excellence. Collaborate and assist with departmental activities and projects, as assigned.
