Role Description The Department of Public Health as part of the Faculty of Medicine, Christchurch, seeks to appoint a skilled and versatile Teaching Fellow to support and teach primarily into the Survey Methods (PUBH723), as well as undertaking some course materials development. This role will work closely with course convenors and assisting in developing teaching materials, practical sessions and assessments. Qualifications - Some teaching experience, with a desire to develop teaching and facilitate learning success. - Experience with use of or demonstrated knowledge in social research methods, particularly surveys. - Experience with development of surveys using software such as Qualtrics or REDCap. - Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with students and staff from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds. - Commitment to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and demonstrated understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values. Requirements - Candidates who have several years teaching experience, and hold or working towards a PhD alongside knowledge of public health within the New Zealand context will be highly regarded. - Preferred experience with distance teaching, and curriculum and/or course content. Role Description We are seeking to appoint a Paper Convener (Senior Professional Practice Fellow) within the Centre for Rural Health post-graduate team. This position provides the opportunity to work within a team that is committed to improving health outcomes for all through high quality research and teaching. Appointment will be dependent on academic achievement, skills, and experience. Responsibilities will include: - Contributing to the on-going development, delivery and success of the Rural Health Programmes through the provision of duties relating to Research, Teaching, Community and University Service, and associated Administration. You may be already teaching and researching in rural health and looking for an opportunity to share your knowledge and experience with great students wanting to upskill to provide the best outcomes in rural medical settings! There is flexibility to undertake the work from anywhere in NZ, combining it with rural clinical work. Qualifications - Completed the Postgraduate Diploma of Rural Clinical Practice (or equivalent). - Medically qualified and hold relevant postgraduate qualifications. - Hold vocational registration in rural hospital medicine and/or general practice or the equivalent. - Actively engaged with or have significant experience in rural generalist medicine. - Teaching experience at the postgraduate level. - Appropriate postdoctoral or research experience, and the ability to establish a vigorous research program or show a commitment to developing this expertise and experience. - Proficient in digital technologies, particularly the use of videoconferencing software and have access to your own computer (e.g. laptop or device). Requirements - This is a part-time (0.1 FTE) fixed-term position available for one year. - The role does not require physical location at a university campus. - Appointment will be at the appropriate step dependent on academic achievement, skills and experience. - The salary scale for a Senior Professional Practice Fellow is $148,414 to $184,993 (medical & dental scale pro-rata per annum). - You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this position.
