Role Description The Community Builder works within United Way's "Hi Neighbour" initiative. The Community Builder is responsible for the implementation of outreach strategies to develop opportunities for relationship building and resident engagement, in line with United Way's goals. As a Community Builder, you will help strengthen community connections and resident leadership through United Way BC’s Hi Neighbour initiative. Working directly with residents, community groups, businesses, and volunteers, you will: - Foster engagement and support community-led projects. - Promote microgrant opportunities. - Create caring, connected, and resilient neighbourhoods. Qualifications - High School Diploma or equivalent. - Deep ties to the community and connections to start working with resident leaders on day one. - At least one year of experience working and/or volunteering in your community. Requirements - Ability to share an inspirational message and catalyze community action. - Confidence in generating ideas with residents for community contributions. - Natural ability to develop relationships between residents and navigate various community dynamics. - Experience in leading community events from planning to execution. - Comfortable working in ambiguous situations and setting priorities aligned with strategy. - Understanding of barriers to engagement and the role of equity in community development. - Detail-oriented with the ability to manage volunteer engagement, budgets, and communications. - Comfortable using social media to engage with residents and promote initiatives. Benefits - This is a regular part-time position of 20 hours per week for a one (1) year term. - Pay grade 26, which is $29.64 hourly. Working Conditions - Must live in the neighbourhood that you are working in. - Comfortable working remotely and getting around the community by various means. - Flexible schedule allowing for work outside normal business hours. - Provide your own computer and phone for remote work.
