Role Description The engagement associate supports the engagement team in developing and executing strategies to increase audience engagement, foster reader relationships, and drive participation across digital and in-person platforms. This role is ensuring that The New Republic’s outreach initiatives are effective, inclusive, and aligned with organizational goals. Key Responsibilities - Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating engagement campaigns and audience development initiatives. - Support the management of social media channels, newsletters, and community forums to encourage active participation and feedback. - Develop, implement, and evaluate social media campaigns and content to increase audience engagement and brand awareness. - Manage all social media accounts, including content scheduling, publishing, and real-time engagement. - Monitor social media trends, platform updates, and audience insights to inform strategy and content development. - Help organize virtual and live events, including webinars, Q&As, and community discussions. - Monitor engagement metrics, prepare reports, and recommend improvements based on data. - Respond to audience inquiries and moderate discussions to maintain a positive and respectful environment. - Contribute to the development of new engagement strategies and pilot programs. - Maintain accurate documentation of processes, outcomes, and best practices. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field. - Experience in audience engagement, community management, or digital tactics preferred. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency with social media platforms and analytics tools. - Ability to work collaboratively and independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. - Creative thinker with a passion for media, public affairs, and community building. Preferred Skills - Experience with event planning and execution. - Familiarity with The New Republic’s mission and audience. - Data-driven approach and comfort with reporting tools. - Experience with social media advertising and campaign management. - Graphic design, video editing, or multimedia content creation skills.
