Role Description The Student Veteran Social Media Intern will amplify authentic student veteran voices, support daily social media operations, and help maintain an engaging, timely, and student-centered digital presence. This role is designed to build professional marketing experience for a student veteran while strengthening SVA’s connection to its community. The intern will prioritize peer-to-peer storytelling, consistent social engagement, platform trend awareness, and mission-aligned content creation. This individual will work effectively both independently and as part of a team, manage multiple assignments, and operate in a deadline-based environment. This position reports to the Marketing and Communications team. Key Responsibilities - Daily Social Media Support - Draft, schedule, and publish daily social media posts across primary platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, TikTok, and others) - Re-share tagged content from chapters, partners, and student veterans - Save and organize tagged images and videos for future use - Ensure posts align with brand voice, accessibility best practices, and organizational guidelines - Community Engagement - Monitor and respond to direct messages and comment inboxes, or flag messages for escalation - Engage authentically with followers, chapters, and partners - Support timely responses during campaigns, events, and awareness moments - Storytelling and Content Development - Proactively gather student veteran stories through text, photos, and short videos - Coordinate with chapters and student leaders to surface compelling content - Pitch content ideas tied to student life, service transition, academic success, and leadership - Social Listening and Trends - Track emerging platform trends, memes, sounds, and formats relevant to student audiences - Recommend new content formats and creative ideas - Support experimentation with Reels, Stories, carousels, and short-form video - Reporting and Analytics - Assist with monthly social media reports and performance snapshots - Track engagement, follower growth, and post-level insights - Identify content themes that resonate most with student veterans - General Support - Support campaign launches, observances, and advocacy moments - Assist the Marketing and Communications team with ad hoc tasks as needed - Complete other duties as assigned Qualifications - Student status, currently enrolled in a college or university - Active use of multiple social media platforms - Strong written communication skills - Ability to meet deadlines and work independently - Comfort engaging authentically online Requirements - Experience running a chapter or personal social media account (preferred) - Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and Meta Business Suite; experience using Salesforce CRM and HubSpot is a plus - Knowledge of WordPress and Google Analytics is a plus - Interest in marketing, communications, or storytelling - Understanding of student veteran culture and challenges Benefits - Hands-on experience in nonprofit digital marketing - Portfolio-ready social media work - Storytelling and analytics skills - Exposure to national advocacy and communications strategy - Professional mentorship and references Time Commitment and Duration - 10 to 20 hours per week - 6-month internship - Flexible scheduling to accommodate academic responsibilities - Clear weekly expectations and deadlines - Option to renew based on performance and interest Compensation - $20 per hour - Stipend or college credit options may be available depending on the candidate’s program Work Environment - This is a remote role within the U.S. - Candidates who are veterans or immediate family members of veterans or serving members of the military are strongly encouraged to apply.
Role Description The VP of Employment Pathways is a pivotal new role leading SVA’s career pathways, internships, and upskilling vertical. This leader will design, build, and scale embedded, full lifecycle programs that connect mission-driven student veteran talent to employers and position SVA as the most valuable career connection for its members. Working closely with the President & CEO and partnering hand-in-hand with the Development team, the VP of Employment Pathways will help shape, deliver, and operationalize partner commitments across internships, upskilling, mentorship, and hiring programs. This leader will own the Employment Pathways ecosystem and technology stack, including the Success Hub and MySVA portals serving Members, Chapters, and Partners, and will use Salesforce to capture partner information, agreements, activity, and deal flow in close coordination with Development. The right candidate is a relationship-driven executive with a builder’s mindset, a strong delivery orientation, and deep fluency in early career talent, internship program design, veteran employment, and upskilling trends. Qualifications - 12+ years of progressive leadership in career pathways, internship program design, talent development, employer engagement, or workforce development, ideally at a national level. - Proven track record in building and scaling national internship programs and early career pipelines. - Deep fluency in early career talent, internships, upskilling, ERGs, and emerging talent strategy. - Demonstrated experience working in partnership with development, fundraising, or business development teams to deliver on employer commitments. - Hands-on experience using Salesforce to manage partner information, agreements, activity, and deal flow. - Track record owning digital program ecosystems, including member and partner portals, learning platforms, or career center technology. - Experience working with or within the veteran ecosystem is strongly preferred. Requirements - Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, the Development team, and executive peers in shaping SVA’s employer engagement and career pathways strategy. - Develop and execute a multi-year career pathways strategy spanning internships, upskilling, mentorship, and full-time hiring. - Partner with Development to help shape, deliver, and operationalize employer partner commitments. - Lead the design and delivery of embedded, full lifecycle programs, including upskilling, mentorship, internships, and employment. - Build and scale a national student veteran internship pipeline. - Build warm handoff hiring events, 90-day integration support, ERG activations, and executive sponsorship programs. - Partner with university relations and talent teams at each employer brand. - Collaborate with and co-lead the development and hosting of Partner, Student, and Chapter advisory boards. - Engage recruitment agencies and ecosystem partners. - Own the Employment Pathways ecosystem and technology stack end-to-end. - Serve as the business owner for Salesforce within the Employment Pathways function. - Partner with technology, data, and content teams to evolve the portals. - Build reporting and dashboards that track the full funnel. - Partner with Development and Finance to ensure program delivery supports funding structures. - Support Development and Communications in leveraging employer relationships. - Partner with Communications and Marketing on signature thought leadership platforms. - Represent SVA in conversations on emerging talent, internships, upskilling, and veteran employment. - Build and lead a high-performing Employment Pathways team. - Partner closely with Development, Programs, and Chapter & Member Success leaders. - Recruit, develop, and retain talent to support both near-term program launches and long-term portfolio growth.
