Technical Instructor Opportunity – Specialisterne USA Academy We’re looking for a Technical Instructor to support the upcoming Specialisterne USA Academy, an 8-week, fully online program designed to prepare neurodivergent learners for entry-level roles in IT and technology (e.g., IT Technician, Help Desk Support, Desktop Support Assistant). This is a great opportunity to contribute to an inclusive workforce development program while helping emerging talent build real-world, employer-relevant skills. About the Program The Academy combines foundational technical learning with hands-on application: - Learners build core knowledge through IBM SkillsBuild pathways (IT Fundamentals & AI Fundamentals) - Learners apply their skills through a capstone project, alongside coaching and employment-readiness workshops Role Summary - Organization: Specialisterne USA - Job Title: Technical Instructor - Location: Fully remote/online delivery (Must be available to work in Eastern Time Zone hours) Employment Terms - This is a temporary, part-time contract position - Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours per week over the 8-week program - Estimated Pay Rate: $60-$70/hourly - Target Start Date: April 2026 Key Responsibilities - Complete the IBM SkillsBuild pathways to become familiar with the curriculum - Provide technical instruction and support throughout the Academy - Guide learners and troubleshoot challenges during their capstone projects - Review and provide feedback on final learner projects General Skills and Abilities - Ability to explain technical concepts in clear, accessible ways - Comfortability instructing a group of up to 30 students, as well as facilitating 1-on-1 meetings Digital/Technical Skills - Familiarity with online communication tools and platforms such as Slack, Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet - Familiarity with Vibe Coding platforms such as TeleportHQ Education/Knowledge - A bachelor’s degree in Education, IT, Data Science, or a related field is a nice-to-have but not required Experience - Experience in instruction, teaching, or training delivery - Background in IT, technical support, and/or AI fundamentals - Experience teaching or supporting neurodivergent individuals in a classroom setting Questions/Accommodations If you have any questions, need support, or would like to request accommodation, please contact us: academy.usa@specialisterne.com. **Beware of scams and fraudulent job postings. Role Description The Workplace Support Specialist acts as a dedicated coach for neurodivergent professionals and managers, providing individualized coaching across the entire career pathway - from onboarding onwards. Workplace Support Specialists often work with coachees to: - Conduct intake (“discovery”) meetings to define individual coaching goals for managers and/or neurodivergent employees. - Develop structured coaching action plans based on the unique needs and context of the coachee(s). - Conduct regular, action-oriented coaching sessions with neurodivergent employees and/or managers. - Identify and support the implementation of tools and strategies to support performance, wellbeing and belonging (e.g. executive functioning, communication, sensory regulation, self-advocacy, accommodations) across the employment life cycle (e.g. onboarding, role changes, manager transitions etc.). - Act as a liaison between managers and neurodivergent employees to identify and implement tools and strategies to proactively address workplace barriers or challenges. - Monitor progress towards coaching goals. - Maintain timely and accurate coaching records and progress tracking, reporting, and documentation in a virtual system. - Report any coaching issues promptly and participate in debriefing sessions with the Head of Program Delivery as needed. - Participate in quarterly team meetings, training sessions and ongoing professional development activities organized by Specialisterne. Qualifications - You have a degree or certificate in Psychology, Education, Developmental Services, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Human Resources, Disability studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - You have a certificate through the International Coaching Federation (ICF), or training in Solution-Focused Practice, Cognitive Behavioural techniques, behavioural science, or with the Supported Employment model (e.g. systematic instruction, task modification, natural cues, visual aids etc.). - You have experience in the field of inclusive/supported employment and have direct experience supporting/coaching neurodivergent or autistic individuals in employment or education settings. - You have a strong understanding and knowledge of neurodiversity, accessibility, inclusive employment practices, and workplace adjustments and accommodations. - You have an ability to build rapport with neurodivergent employees and managers and develop strong relationships quickly. - You have exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong customer orientation. - You have experience navigating diverse corporate settings with professionalism, balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders. - You have the ability to work independently in dynamic, real-world environments. - You have strong organizational and documentation skills. - You are willing to obtain Government of Canada security clearance. Technical Requirements - You are comfortable working in a remote team environment and using cloud-based platforms (Microsoft 365 and AirTable). - You have access to a desktop computer or laptop with reliable internet access, a working webcam and microphone.
