Position Summary The Commercial Director will be responsible for optimizing feedstock supply and digestate off-take at a key food waste-to-RNG production facility located in Linden, NJ. This leadership role requires expertise and relationships in the solid waste management network around the New York/New Jersey metro area. The Commercial Director will own and manage relationships with waste suppliers (commercial & municipal) and digestate off-takers. This candidate will develop and establish procurement and risk management strategies to maximize profitability at LRE as it pertains to organics feedstock supply and digestate off-take. The candidate will serve as the point of contact for commercial and municipal bodies, positioning LRE as a critical recycling infrastructure in the region. The successful candidate will join the team during the final stages of construction, supporting the execution of existing feedstock contracts, coordinating with existing feedstock suppliers for commissioning, and ensuring the existing feedstock suppliers are prepared to support LRE as it advances towards commercial operations. Essential Functions: Key Responsibilities: - Site Leadership: - Manage and co-ordinate day-to-day obligations and responsibilities under the Waste Supply and Digestate Off-take agreements. Manage delivery scheduling in-line with operational needs,downtimeand market dynamics. - Manage and cultivate relationships with senior municipal and commercial clients/off-takers, ensuring high‑quality customer engagement and contract performance. Ensure effective communication with clients/off-takersto drive site success. - Create and execute market‑area strategies tooptimizeasset-value and overall commercial performance. Lead the procurement,negotiationand management of fuel supply contracts–which is expected to be a mix ofmerchantto long-term in nature. Evaluate and execute opportunities to de-risk the facility, including moving upstream (e.g., establishingLRE ownedde-packaging facilities). - Ensure effective communication between internal teams, feedstocksuppliersandthe local communityto drive site success. - Commissioning & Plant Start-Up: - Finalize agreement and coordinate the delivery of seed sludge. - Negotiate andfinalizelease agreements with waste suppliers for the de-packaging systems. - Work with the waste suppliers to manage delivery schedules and expected volume ramp-up during commissioning. - Operations & Process Optimization: - Work with feedstock suppliers, develop and implement processes/systems tooptimizelogisticsto the site. - Partner with Operations Director andfacility operatortooptimizefeedstockquality, delivery times, anddigestate output. - Team Development & Personnel Management: - Lead and mentor personnel, focusing on development, performance improvement, and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration. - Oversee recruitment, training, and workforce development strategies tomaintaina highly skilled and motivated team. - Coordinate with external contractors and third-party partners to ensure smooth operations across all aspects of the site. - EHS & Compliance: - Ensure adherence to a safety-led culture throughout the facility’s operations and processes. Set expectations for everyone involved (employees, visitors, and contractors) to adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations. - Reporting & Continuous Improvement: - Develop and present regular reports on operational performance, challenges, and achievements to senior leadership. - Lead efforts toidentifyand implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. Qualifications Required Background: - Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineeringor a related field is;Master’sdegree a plus - 15+ years of waste industry experience in the New York/New Jersey Metro area; strong network of contacts at both commercial haulers and municipalities - Experience managing hauling operations or feedstocklogistics;previousexperience with Anaerobic Digesters a plus - Previousexperience in commercial and municipal contractinginitiativesfrom sourcing to evaluation of opportunities, coordinating multidisciplinary bid responses, negotiation, execution, and renewal of agreements. Role Description Lead the natural gas wholesale marketing function, optimizing supply, transportation, storage, and market positions to serve contract load and merchant generation. Direct trading and gas scheduling operations to execute physical transactions, manage daily pipeline positions, and capture location and time spread within defined risk limits. Own key cross-functional relationships (Risk, Accounting, Credit, and Legal/Compliance, etc) and ensure accurate deal capture, confirmations, and settlements in the ETRM system. - Develop and execute wholesale gas marketing strategies (daily/monthly/term) to optimize commodity, basis, transport, and storage value while serving physical obligations. - Manage pipeline, storage, and balancing positions (daily and month-end); optimize inventory and variable charges across pipelines. - Direct day-ahead and intraday execution, including nomination strategy, cuts/allocations management, and coordination with pipelines, counterparties, and plants. - Own cross-functional coordination with Risk, Accounting, Credit, and Legal/Compliance to solve operational constraints, credit exposure, and settlement discrepancies. - Accountable for ETRM accuracy and timeliness: deal capture, confirmations, scheduling interfaces, position reporting, and settlement readiness; drive process and system improvements with IT. - Perform market and tariff analytics to evaluate transport alternatives, basis economics, and operational constraints; recommend actions consistent with risk limits. - Capture market opportunities by managing location spreads and optionality across pipelines and hubs using real-time positions, flow information, and fundamentals. - Communicate real-time market and operational updates to senior management. - Oversee scheduling supervisors (and supporting schedulers/settlement resources as applicable) to ensure timely nominations, accurate pipeline statements, and clean month-end close. - Ensure transactions and communications comply with applicable FERC rules, NAESB practices, internal controls, and risk management policies. - Maintain accurate daily and forward positions by pipeline/hub and delivery month. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or related discipline. - At least 8 years of combined trading and scheduling experience in natural gas markets with a minimum of 1 year successful leadership experience. - Experience in natural gas wholesale marketing/trading with hands-on scheduling and pipeline operations experience. - Deep understanding of North American gas market structure, counterparties, and commercial practices (utilities, producers, marketers, and power generators). - Proven ability to evaluate and monetize transport, storage, and basis optionality; strong knowledge of pipeline tariffs, fuel/LAUF, and variable charges. - Experience with financial hedging tools (NYMEX futures/options, basis swaps) and physical/financial risk management practices. - Strong ETRM proficiency (deal capture through settlement) and advanced Excel skills; able to define requirements and partner with IT on enhancements. - Demonstrated leadership in a fast-paced, real-time environment with strong decision-making and attention to detail. - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across Trading/Marketing, Operations, Risk, Accounting, Credit, and external counterparties. - Working knowledge of FERC requirements and industry standards (e.g., NAESB) related to physical gas transactions.
