Senior Marketing Underwriter - Workers' Compensation Insurance

Role Description As a Sr. Marketing Underwriter Rep in Nebraska, you will be part of a multi-functional team managing both new and existing relationships with independent agents and brokers to produce new account opportunities for the organization focusing on workers' compensation policies. This role will work with internal and external partners to deliver best in class performance and deliver profitable business for the Organization. - Responsible for the entire book of middle market business which includes renewals, evaluating new business, and deploying effective account management strategies. - Focus on growing SFM’s footprint in Nebraska, serving as the underwriter when working on renewals and new business. - Develop and maintain agency/broker relationships to achieve success along with meeting new business and retention goals. Role Description At SFM, the Medical Only Claims Representative investigates workers' compensation claims to assess whether medical treatment for injured workers is compensable. You will play a critical role in evaluating workplace injuries and assist employees and employers throughout the claims process. This position involves: - Reviewing the validity of claims. - Gathering relevant medical documents. - Collaborating with the employer and healthcare providers to ensure that the injured workers' medical expenses are paid in accordance with the State's guidelines and SFM’s best practices. - Providing a successful and efficient resolution of the claim. - Using strong communication and critical thinking skills. - Delivering excellent customer service to all parties involved in the claims process. - Working collaboratively within a multifunctional team. Role Description As a Business Development Representative in Tennessee, you will be part of a multi-functional team underwriting and managing both new and existing relationships with independent agents and brokers to produce new account opportunities for the organization focusing on workers' compensation policies. This is a new position because of SFM's growth in Tennessee. You will be responsible for attracting and underwriting middle market business, deploying effective account management while fostering strong working relationships with agency partners. You will direct much of your attention to growing SFM’s footprint in Tennessee but operate as the underwriter when working on renewals and new business. Developing and maintaining agency/broker relationships is key to achieving success along with meeting new business goals and retention of renewals. What You Will Be Doing - Establish new agency partner relationships and increase new applications for workers’ compensation insurance policies. - Meet regularly with new and existing agents and those identified as high potential to build relationships while fostering effective business relationships. - Organize and participate in marketing initiatives, including presentations, industry events, and broker/agent meetings to showcase products and services. - Articulate the company’s capabilities in underwriting, risk control, and claims. - Educate agents about the benefits of standalone workers’ compensation programs while delivering premier customer service. - Complete agency reviews, capturing appropriate intel around market opportunities and review agency performance. - Provide feedback to management on the current state of the marketplace, agencies, and competition. - Maintain and monitor an entire underwriting book of business to achieve premium volume and loss ratios consistent with company goals and objectives. - Evaluate and analyze new and renewal business in accordance with Company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite. - Work with agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary information and clarify details. - Demonstrate critical thinking in assessing the risk and identifying exposures and controls. - Set appropriate terms and conditions to deliver a profitable portfolio. - Document assigned files with underwriting thought process. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, risk management, marketing, business or related field; or equivalent applicable work experience. - Professional insurance designations (CPCU, CIC, ARM) is a plus. - Four or more years’ experience in a sales/marketing role, preferably in the field of insurance. - Experience underwriting commercial property/casualty insurance policies and/or agency experience is preferred. - Excellent marketing skills and firm understanding as to how to develop new business. - Strong working knowledge of state applicable Workers’ Compensation rules and regulations is a plus. - Knowledge of insurance rating, structure, forms, and coverages. - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to deliver superior customer service. - Able to travel with occasional overnights. - Valid driver’s license. Role Description As a Risk and Safety Consultant Rep AKA Loss Prevention Representative, you will serve as the subject matter expert regarding Loss Control Safety & Health services for SFM’s policy holders. You will support SFM’s mission to “do the right thing” and find ways to improve the overall safety for workers and mitigate work-related injuries. Visiting various businesses seeking ways to improve employee safety and reduce losses is a critical part of the position. Working on a multi-functioning team, you will strive to deliver exceptional customer service and inspire a safer workplace to protect workers from harm. This position offers lots of variety, focusing on assisting our customers, who are our policy holders, increase their safety awareness while adhering to departmental and company guidelines and standards. Occupational health is a focus for this role. This is a remote position for the state of KS, and living in or near KS is desired. The territory will include areas such as KC City and surrounding areas, Topeka and Wichita. A company car is offered for this position. Candidates with advanced Safety/Risk experience or Occupational Health and Safety (or something similar) may be considered for a higher level and the salary will be based on your experience. What You’ll Do: - Conduct risk assessments and create reports in a variety of settings and complete a risk analysis to make recommendations to control customers’ source of risk, loss and/or costs. - Evaluate, review, and monitor routine environmental and occupational disease exposures to determine degree of risk. - Plan and present safety-related educational programs to control exposures for policyholders and provide training if necessary. - Provide risk assessment information internally to the respective business teams and work collaboratively within a team environment. - Regularly interact with team members, policyholders, and agents to achieve individual and team goals. - Provide first-class customer service to all customers and comply with customer service standards. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in safety, risk management, Occupational Health and Safety, or other quantitative field; or in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, two plus years of experience working in a field that is directly related to the essential functions of the job is acceptable. - Master’s degree in safety, risk management or related studies is a plus. - One year experience working in a safety-related field (manufacturing or construction setting) or a qualifying internship, preferred. - ASP designation, or other professional certifications relevant to the position is a plus. - Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations related to workers’ compensation insurance, safety and OSHA. - Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to develop and conduct training programs. - Strong time management skills and ability to work independently. - Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships. - Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. - Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate customer’s needs, which may require overnight stays.
