Role Description A confidential, cutting-edge defense technology organization is seeking an experienced and proactive IT Manager to own and scale its internal IT infrastructure. In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for IT operations, security, and compliance—partnering closely with engineering and operations leadership to support a fast-growing, mission-driven team. What You’ll Do - IT Operations & Infrastructure: - Manage and maintain all internal systems, services, and hardware in a Mac-first, cloud-native environment. - Administer tools such as Google Workspace, AWS, Slack, Jamf, and related SaaS platforms. - Security & Compliance: - Implement, monitor, and continuously improve IT security policies and controls to meet federal standards (including CMMC). - Own security audits, remediation plans, and policy updates. - Internal Support: - Provide hands-on technical support to a distributed team; troubleshoot hardware, software, and access issues. - Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT-related questions and escalations. - Tooling, Automation & Vendor Management: - Oversee software licensing, renewals, and vendor relationships. - Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement across IT workflows. - Onboarding & Offboarding: - Run end-to-end IT onboarding and offboarding: account provisioning, access control, hardware shipping, and remote MDM deployment. - Documentation: - Create and maintain clear documentation for IT processes, assets, architecture, and security procedures. Qualifications - 2+ years of experience as an IT Manager (or similar role) with full ownership of infrastructure, ideally in a start-up or remote-first environment. - VantageClear Certification or equivalent security/compliance credential required. - Strong hands-on experience with cloud-based systems (AWS, Google Workspace, Slack, etc.). - Advanced understanding of IT security principles, tools, and best practices, including endpoint protection and identity/access management. - Experience with remote device management and endpoint tools (Jamf, Hypori, or similar). - Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, HR, operations, and finance to design and enforce technical procedures. - Excellent communication skills and comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. - U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required to meet federal export and security regulations. You’ll be responsible for system stability, training effectiveness, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance, while building a collaborative, service-first team culture aligned with organizational priorities.
