Role Description Red Star 3D is looking for a SENIOR HOUDINI FX ARTIST to join us on Terry Pratchett movie THE AMAZING MAURICE 2. This is a remote role, but you’ll need to be based in the UK or EU. - Building and running FX in Houdini (water, fire, smoke, destruction, magical stuff… the usual mix). - Taking shots from setup through to final, with minimal hand-holding. - Working closely with Supes to get things looking right while keeping things efficient. - Keeping your setups clean, readable and production-friendly. - Troubleshooting when things break (they will) and finding solid solutions. Qualifications - 4+ years’ experience in production. - Strong Houdini skills across the usual FX toolsets (Pyro, FLIP, RBD, particles, etc.). - Comfortable owning your work and managing your time. - A good eye for what makes FX feel right in feature animation, not just technically correct. Requirements - VEX and/or Python knowledge. - Familiarity with Maya. - Feature or high-end episodic experience. Red Star 3D are seeking a remote UK or EU-based HOUDINI PIPELINE TD for a short-term contract to develop robust and scalable software tools to integrate Houdini into our Maya / Shotgrid pipeline. Red Star 3D are seeking a UK or EU-based Scene Prep / Tech Anim TD to work remotely on Terry Pratchett movie THE AMAZING MAURICE 2. As a Scene Prep / Tech Anim TD you will be responsible for preparing approved layout sequences for character animation; and for checking and finalising animated scenes to progress them to lighting. The job: - Build and test-render final scenes with approved assets and animation - Add cached FX elements when required - Work on any post animation fixes on characters - Check test renders to ensure scenes are 100% ready to be picked up by Lighting artists - Other duties as appropriate to the role and determined by supervisors Must have: - Experience with Maya in a production environment - Diligence, thoroughness and an eye for detail - Problem solving and communication skills Details - Experience level: Mid - Contract term: TBC - Salary: negotiable - Whilst these are fully remote positions, due to the way this project is funded candidates MUST be physically based in the UK or EU to be eligible and a strong preference will be given to UK-based candidates. - Please note that due to the extremely high number of applications we receive we are not able to reply to unsuccessful candidates.
