Role Description The Classics Department at the University of Pittsburgh seeks a lecturer for one 3-credit section of CLASSICS 1185: SCIENCE FICTION & THE ANCIENTS. - Applicants should approach ancient literature and classical reception through a lens of science fiction studies. - The successful candidate's scholarly interests and experience will include: - A focus on the literary study of ancient and modern texts. - The intellectual history of scientific and political philosophy. - Specific emphasis on the reception of ancient art and literature in modern science fiction and African American literature. - Required qualifications include: - An MA in Classics or a related field at the time of hire. - Experience in teaching or supporting this or a similar course in the American post-secondary system. - The appointment is for the summer semester, June 15, 2026, through August 15, 2026. - This class will be taught remotely. - Review of application materials will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. - Application materials should include: - A letter of application detailing suitability for the teaching appointment. - A current CV. - A statement of teaching philosophy and experience that addresses diversity. - A list of three recommenders, at least one of whom should comment explicitly on the candidate’s teaching ability. - Questions related to the position or application process may be directed to Kelly Britcher at ksb85@pitt.edu . The University of Pittsburgh School of Law (Pitt Law) seeks to hire part-time Adjunct Faculty to serve as course instructors in the online Master of Studies in Law (MSL) degree program beginning in academic year 2026-2027. Instructors are sought for the following courses: - American Legal System - Contracts - Torts - Property - Constitutional Law - Criminal Law - Legislation and Regulation Responsibilities: Course instructors support and guide student progress, provide detailed and substantive feedback on student submissions, grade assignments, tests, and exams. Instructors use existing online materials, tools, and procedures. Minimum Qualifications for Course Instructors: - Licensed attorney with a minimum of 5 years of experience practicing or teaching law. - At least 3 years of experience in the subject matter of the course for which they are engaged. - Experience using Canvas or a similar learning management system and skill at online interaction. - Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Zoom. This position is a short-term position in which the ideal Candidate will develop advanced skills in clinical research methodology. Main objectives of this position are to learn how to organize and manage de-identified datasets, perform descriptive and comparative analyses, and contribute to the synthesis and dissemination of research findings through manuscript preparation and presentation. This experience will strengthen the Candidate's overall competency in clinical investigation and quantitative reasoning. Additionally, participation in this clinical trials research along with manuscript development will help foster skills in data interpretation, scientific communication and collaborative investigation. Position Overview The University of Pittsburgh is seeking Community Scientists to join a research study examining attitudes and norms related to reproductive health and reproductive healthcare access in Pennsylvania. Community Scientists play a vital role in helping the study team understand how reproductive health is discussed and experienced in everyday community settings. This position is designed for individuals who have strong connections within their communities and who can approach conversations and observations in an impartial, respectful, and nonjudgmental manner. The position is temporary and tied to grant funding. Candidates will be expected to attend trainings and meetings over Zoom. As such, they should have easy access to wifi and a computer with a camera. Training Community Scientists will complete structured training through the University of Pittsburgh prior to beginning data collection. Training includes: · Certification in Community Partner Research Ethics Training (CPRET) · A three-part training series in the qualitative observational methodology The study team will provide ongoing guidance and support throughout the project.
