Role Description Peregrine Energy Solutions is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join the Market Analytics team who possesses expertise in evaluating the US's wholesale regulated and deregulated utility and power sectors and in formulating market entry and origination tactics for emerging grid service opportunities involving battery energy storage. In addition to helping shape the company’s commercial & siting strategy, the individual will offer support and insights to the origination, development, engineering, and finance teams as needed. This is a full-time position and can be fully remote. Essential Responsibilities: - Commodity Structuring & Risk Analysis for Product Pricing: - Direct experience structuring bespoke C&I vPPA and associated structures specifically for C&I customers. - Quantitative market analysis and risk analysis focused on product pricing. - Programmatic data science experience; coding and data manipulation and curation from source to rendering final conclusions for commercial decisions. - Structured products creation experience (e.g. clean firm energy block products). - Options product and risk product pricing. - Revenue at Risk, and Potential Future Exposure analysis – modeling and evaluating exposure from complex commodity structures/products. - Evaluating market wholesale and retail rules to help develop fit-for-purpose products and solutions to address identified customer needs. - Help support the buildout of the market analytics team, including recruiting and hiring highly qualified individuals. - Help build out other team capabilities in the mid-to-long term, such as production cost modeling, price, revenue, & risk assessment, steady state power flow modeling, and dispatch optimization software. - Support the origination, analysis, and execution of new business opportunities including highly structured transactions. - Ensure product pricing properly accounts for credit and commodity risk. - Lead the execution of structured solutions products pricing, and associated risk analysis to support collateral sizing. Qualifications - 5+ years of market fundamentals analysis with a focus on energy storage and renewables structuring. - Experience with structured energy products for both wholesale and industrial counterparties. - Quantitative risk management and hedging experience in the energy industry. - Extensive knowledge and experience with US wholesale power markets (ERCOT, SPP, MISO, WECC preferred). - Expert proficiency in Data Science, specifically Python or a similar programming language. - Production cost modeling (PLEXOS, Aurora, DAYZER) is a plus. Role Description Peregrine Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced and analytical professional to join our Asset Management department as a Principal Asset Optimization Analyst. This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the commercial performance and market participation of Peregrine’s operating merchant battery storage assets. The primary objective is to maximize asset value through third-party optimization, active market engagement, and rigorous data analysis—while ensuring compliance, reliability, and asset health. The position will also support long-term market and analytics initiatives that enhance Peregrine’s broader BESS development portfolio and market strategy. This position can be remote with local candidates in the Denver area preferred. - Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics to identify new business and revenue opportunities. - Translate market intelligence into actionable commercial strategies and dispatch priorities. - Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement portfolio-level optimization frameworks across multiple ISOs/RTOs (ERCOT, PJM, SPP, MISO). - Support companywide initiatives to improve revenue forecasting, risk management, and energy trading capabilities. - Oversee daily dispatch and scheduling in collaboration with third-party optimization and QSE providers. - Develop and refine trading and bidding strategies to optimize real-time and day-ahead performance. - Maintain understanding of battery system capabilities and limits (state of charge, cycle life, degradation, thermal management, inverter constraints). - Ensure compliance with risk policies, warranties, and regulatory requirements. - Build operational readiness to manage obligations while preserving long-term asset health. - Manage relationships with optimization vendors, software providers, and schedulers. - Identify, integrate, and manage data sources for market forecasting, congestion modeling, and revenue analysis. - Lead the development of dashboards and KPIs to monitor asset performance (e.g., revenue per MWh, availability, efficiency, degradation rate, forecast accuracy). - Collaborate with Market Analytics to analyze historical data and refine forecasting models. - Support the development of quantitative tools for scenario analysis, risk evaluation, and performance benchmarking. - Participate in contract and vendor negotiations to ensure commercial alignment. - Work closely with cross-functional teams including Asset Management, Operations, Market Analytics, Finance, and Development. - Provide commercial and analytical input during project development. - Mentor analysts or staff to build a high-performing optimization function. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s preferred). - Minimum of 5 years’ experience in energy market analytics, trading, or asset optimization. - Strong understanding of U.S. ISO/RTO markets (ERCOT, SPP, PJM, MISO). - Experience with energy storage optimization, market participation, and risk-adjusted forecasting. - Proficiency in data analytics tools (Python, SQL, MATLAB, Power BI, or R). - Experience with third-party QSEs, optimization software, or scheduling providers. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Requirements - Salary range: $120,000 – $150,000 annually. - Final compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, technical skills, education, certifications, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities, as well as internal equity considerations. - This position may be eligible to receive an annual cash incentive bonus capped at a % of your base salary and on your performance review.
