Role Description The Vice President, Men’s Basketball oversees all aspects of the Pac-12 Conference's men’s basketball initiatives, programs, and operations, including but not limited to scheduling, officiating, strategy, and championship execution. They act as the Pac-12 liaison for men’s basketball between coaches and staff, member institutions, and the NCAA, while supporting and driving strategic initiatives, branding, and revenue growth for the sport. This role requires a high level of discretion, analytical thinking, and the ability to effectively navigate complex situations. Location: The Pac-12 office is based in San Ramon, CA. This position is open to remote candidates in the states of California, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Idaho, Texas, and Utah. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Strategic Planning and Execution - Collaborate with the SVP, Deputy Commissioner to develop and execute strategic initiatives and long-term plans for continuous improvement of Pac-12 basketball. - Monitor progress toward strategic goals and provide regular updates. - Direct the planning, logistics, and execution of the annual men’s basketball conference tournament. - Communication and Liaison - Serve as the primary liaison to league coaches, athletics directors, and the NCAA to address men’s basketball issues, legislative concepts, and trends. - Facilitate communication between the SVP, Deputy Commissioner and various departments, ensuring alignment and clarity of objectives. - Day-to-day contact with institutional directors of basketball operations, basketball event managers, and basketball scheduling administrators. - Serve as a liaison with communications and broadcast colleagues in support of further promoting and strengthening the Pac-12 men's basketball brand. - Collaborate and communicate with Conference women's basketball staff to assure equity and consistency in Conference policies. - Serve as day-to-day contact for key members of the Western Officiating Consortium leadership team. - Represent the Pac-12 Conference at appropriate committees and events. - Manage periodic basketball event manager conference calls. - Project Management - Anticipate challenges and opportunities, offering proactive solutions to mitigate risk and drive growth. - Provide analysis and recommendations on key decisions, drawing upon data and insights from various sources. - Provide briefings on current industry issues. - Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to increase efficiency. - Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives effectively. - Monitor compliance with Conference men's basketball regulations and make suggestions to appropriate parties for changes. - Suggest NCAA legislation and rule changes to strategically position the Pac-12 on national issues. - Manage the development of the Pac-12 Conference men's basketball game and broadcast scheduling in accordance with guidelines and parameters, including Conference and non-conference broadcasting requests. - Monitor men's basketball game grading and related officiating reports. - Create, edit, and distribute the annual Pac-12 Basketball Administration Manual. - Assist in selected women's basketball operations projects as requested. - Serve as Sports Manager for a to-be-determined Olympic sport. - Contribute to weekly, quarterly, and annual business/stakeholder meetings. - Assist with coordination of virtual and in-person meetings. - Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the SVP, Deputy Commissioner. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will manage the day-to-day accounting functions while ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role will supervise two Staff Accountants and play a critical role in strengthening financial processes, supporting organizational transition efforts, and maintaining best-in-class financial controls. The Controller will partner closely with the CFO, department heads, external auditors, payroll providers, and banking partners to ensure financial integrity and operational efficiency. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Accounting & Financial Operations - Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close. - Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. - Manage all banking relationships, including cash management and authorized signatory responsibilities. - Lead the annual audit process and coordinate the preparation of audited financial statements. - Partner with HR on the annual retirement plan audit process and coordinate preparation of audited retirement plan data. - Oversee tax compliance and coordinate with external tax advisors on required filings. - Maintain and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and documentation. Financial Reporting & Forecasting Support - Support the CFO in annual budget development and ongoing forecasting processes. - Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for senior leadership and key stakeholders. - Monitor departmental budgets/P&L and partner with department heads to ensure cost discipline. - Develop and maintain cash flow projections and ensure minimum cash thresholds are met. - Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and scenario planning. Role Description The Vice President / Director, Sport Operations will be responsible for the development, operation, and coordination of Pac-12 Conference Championship events, including the Football Championship, Basketball Tournament, and neutral-site championships. This role will also serve as the primary liaison for institutional game management personnel. This role provides direction and guidance on all Pac-12 operational, logistical, design, and support elements for assigned Pac-12 Conference Championships, including neutral-site and campus-hosted championships, and other events as needed, providing expertise and value to existing events. This role will also serve as the primary Conference liaison/sport manager for assigned sports. This role will ensure compliance with Pac-12 Conference policies and procedures and will work to maximize profitability through efficient utilization of resources. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional event operations and sports experience, coupled with extraordinary management, supervisory, and motivational skills.
