Title: Creature / Character Modeller Location: London, England, GB Job Description: One of Us is looking for a Creature / Character modeller who has experience in creating photo realistic Fantasy and real life Creatures / Characters for VFX projects. Alongside good technical knowledge of character / creature workflows within VFX, the candidate must also have a good eye for detail that is capable of matching onset data and also the ability to translate reference material into fantasy creatures. Good knowledge of working with downstream departments ( Riggin, CFX and Animation) is required alongside Anatomy knowledge of both humans and creatures. Experience of Facial modelling utilising FACS of both human and animal will also be a part of the role. A portfolio of work that demonstrates these qualities is required for consideration towards this role. Responsibilities: - Build models with good / clean Topology and UV’s. - Finaling shots utilising shotsculpting. - Build and present Anatomical Diagnostics of Creatures. - Sculpting of Displacement maps for Characters / creatures. - Modelling of clothing that matches photogrammetry data sets for Digital doubles. - Creation of FACS based face shapes that work within OOU’s facial pipeline. - Contributing to workflow and pipeline discussions for Characters and creatures and also aiding in documenting workflows as needed. What we are looking for: - Previous experience in a similar role. - Experience in using Maya, Zbrush, Mush 3d, Wrap 3d (Optical flow set ups and processing of FACS data.) - Experienced in Shotsculpting. - Experience in modelling of LOD’s and Simulation / technical meshes for creatures. - An understanding of rigging, animation and CFX requirements. - Good problem solving skills. - Team oriented crew member with good communication skills. The role encompasses creative cinematography and technical execution, supporting the development of previs and postvis. The ideal candidate combines strong artistic and technical skills for camera and staging with a good knowledge of CG pipelines, real-time workflows, and scene assembly. You will work closely with directors, supervisors, animators, and Assets to establish cinematic sequences that drive storytelling and production efficiency. Requirements Key Responsibilities ● Create and refine previs, postvis, and layout scenes that communicate story, scale and pacing. ● Build and manage 3D scenes using client and One of Us production assets, ● Develop cinematic camera work, shot composition and blocking aligned with the director’s vision. ● Collaborate with client art departments and art directors. ● Technical scene optimization for real-time playback and rendering performance. ● Troubleshoot scene issues including asset optimization, scale consistency and camera exports. ● Participate in dailies, reviews, and creative discussions with supervisors and production leadership. ● Run real time sessions with clients. Role Description The Senior Rigging Artist is responsible for building robust, scalable character, creature, and prop rigs entirely within Maya. This includes developing facial systems, deformation setups, and custom tools to support animation and downstream departments. The role balances technical execution with mentorship and cross-department collaboration. - Rig Development: Build advanced Maya rigs for characters, creatures, and props. - Deliver animation-friendly rigs that meet artistic and technical standards. - Deformation: Deliver clean skinning, blendshapes, and deformation setups. - Tool Creation: Support the team with scalable tools and reliable technical solutions. - Develop and maintain rigging tools to support team workflows. - Pipeline Integration: Ensure rigs are stable and compatible with downstream use. - Collaboration: Work with animation, CFX, and modeling to meet rigging needs. Help define best practices and contribute to pipeline improvements. - Mentorship: Provide support and review feedback for mid and junior artists.
