Responsible to lead the project team to align all initiatives and activities to ensure projects are on time and within budget, meeting the company and the customer objectives. Manages and coordinates product and system orders, deliveries, installation, and operations beginning when an order is received through the time it is fully operational at client sites. Responsible to monitor all project progress and metrics including overseeing designated engineering, procurement, production, delivery, startup, and commissioning personnel for the respective projects. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or related industries. - Minimum 3-5 years of experience in engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or water utilities environment. - 3-5 years of project management experience. - Proven track record of achieving measurable results. - Competent in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Requirements - Establish and maintain processes to manage scope over the project lifecycle, setting project quality and performance standards, and assessing and managing risk within, and across, multiple projects. - Proactively interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify and develop project execution requirements. - Work with the sales team to coordinate all quoting and submittal activities and provide a competitive difference by anticipating customer needs and responding to inquiries. - Lead efforts to develop and/or improve policies, procedures, processes, and systems to effectively manage projects. - Effectively manage customer and field service requirements of new and existing customers. - Communicate outstanding service items to regional sales groups with updates on progress, resolution, and completion dates. - Structure and manage integrated, multi-track project performance databases for multiple digital, print, social, broadcast, and experiential projects, with an eye on overall progress. - Ensure timely and accurate submission and approval of submittal documents, including technical quality control of documents such as order details, submittal records, and change orders. - Monitor and assign resources appropriately to streamline project efficiency and maximize deliverable outputs. - Develop and maintain partnerships with outside resources including third-party vendors and researchers. - Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels as needed, escalating issues based on project work plans and objectives. - Proactively coordinate with all departments to ensure timely execution of projects, maximization of profits, and effective use of Company resources. - Set up logistics for pickup and shipment of major equipment projects from point of order award through equipment installation/start-up and customer remittance including coordinating on-site start-up and training of controls and equipment. - Negotiate and act as a buyer for major equipment including A.S.M.E. pressure vessels, pumps, membranes, and other long lead time items. - Communicate expectations, order status, and other relevant information to customers, other departments, and management in a timely and effective manner. - Other duties as assigned. JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Pressure Vessels Department: Engineering Reports To: Applications Engineering Manager Status: Exempt Vacancy: Yes Salary Range: $75,000 - $105,000 (Actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience) Summary: Newterra is solving the world's most impactful water problems from providing drinking water for communities to cleaning hard to treat water for reuse or to return to the environment. The Pressure Vessel Applications Engineer at Newterra plays a key role in this mission of providing treatment solutions to address these needs. This position collaborates with sales, engineering, and procurement to tailor solutions for clients. Responsibilities include evaluating customer requirements, defining system design features, costing solutions accurately, and preparing bidding packages. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Review customer specifications, resolve issues, clarify requirements, and budget for non-standard requirements. - Work with the sales and operations teams to develop commercial strategies for competitive projects and document strategy sessions. - Verify designs from the process design group (or Develop process designs that) meets client project requirements. - Collaborate with suppliers and procurement to obtain component and equipment costs. - Prepare proposals including technical equipment details, influent parameters, discharge criteria, clarifications, customer technical questionnaires, and appendices. - Work with the sales team and supervisors to manage bid submission information. Estimate project schedules. Respond to customer questions. - Contribute to the developing new or existing tools, products, and processes as part of continuous improvement initiatives. - Able to create firm priced proposals and cost estimate with minimal support and oversight. - Perform cost estimate and proposal reviews for junior level applications engineers and peers. - Lead proposal efforts during the sales process. Other Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures. - Comply with Quality Management Systems in accordance with Newterra’s internal quality standards. - Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra’s Delegation of Authority. - Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. - More than +5 years’ experience in designing and budgeting pressure vessel systems. - Experience in application areas: granular activated carbon, ion exchanges, greensand filters, and multimedia filters. - Travel availability at <5% annually. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and the ability to learn new computer applications quickly. - Ability to work independently and work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal. - Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods; required to stand, walk, and use business equipment daily such as a computer, copier, telephone, etc.; occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 15 lbs. Complex thinking and analysis required with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely. Work Environment Generally, works in office environment, however, may be required to visit client sites and be exposed to indoor or outdoor industry specific elements.
