Role overview We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Applications Specialist to join the team. This is a remote tole with occasional travel to our offices in London and Nottingham however the successful candidate will ideally be located within an hour of London due to the location of the team. This role plays a key part in supporting the planning and delivery of the IT plan by developing a deep understanding of business challenges and identifying technology-based solutions that support operational excellence and fast business growth. Using your strong understanding of business operations and the technology landscape, you will work in a partnership-based approach with leaders and partners across Newmedica to plan and deliver operational changes. What will I be doing? As Business Applications Specialist, you will work with stakeholders across the organisation to fully understand the requirements and benefits of project proposals, progressing them through conceptual design, concept request stage and work hands on in configuring the solution to meet the requirements. Partnering with the Business Applications Manager, you will ensure organisational needs are fully captured and that project objectives support the intended benefits. You will maintain a strong understanding of the business context across both support office and Ophthalmology Joint Venture (OJV)/Managed Services operations, advising how business strategies can best be achieved through technology delivery and improved operational processes. You will also identify constraints and inefficiencies that may affect outcomes and support efforts to address them. You will contribute to the conceptual design process, translating business concepts into high-level requirements and ensuring projects are initiated effectively. You will provide business domain and process expertise to support design teams, advise on technical solution options and ensure solutions continue to address fundamental business needs during delivery. A key part of this role includes supporting testing by helping draft and execute test scenarios for system upgrades and new implementations, ensuring alignment with strategic plans. You will also support the Operational Support Teams by resolving escalated queries, creating and managing application documentation, and completing or updating application configurations where required. What skills and experience do I need? We are looking for someone who has a solid understanding of how technology supports business operations and who can identify a range of feasible solutions to business challenges. Strong stakeholder relationships are key, with the ability to build trust, influence decisions and provide constructive challenge. Strong technical configuration skills will be needed; and hands-on experience of our Ophthalmology Clinical Solution, Open Eyes and our Patient Administration System, Care Pathway Manager (CPM), would be a distinct advantage. You will bring a good understanding of business analysis principles and/or solutions architecture, along with experience in problem-solving and supporting solution delivery. Knowledge of project support and experience testing system upgrades or rollouts are also essential. You will be an effective communicator, able to translate technical information clearly, ask insightful questions, and understand core business requirements. Experience in a healthcare setting would be highly beneficial and specialised IT certifications such as ITIL would be advantageous, or you may be willing to work towards these. If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to complete a short video interview as the next stage of the process.
