About the Position More Perfect Union is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our team as Creator Video Lead. The Creator Video Lead will support our rapidly growing contributor program and play a key role in developing our strategy for identifying and cultivating new talent. They must have strong editorial judgement and social media skills, understand More Perfect Union’s mission, and be excited about building a bench of creators and influencers to build power for working people. The Creator Video Lead will act as a primary point of contact for our network of creators in the video production process. They will work with creators to sharpen their production skills, develop pitches, and produce compelling vertical videos each week that connect with a broad audience and expand MPU’s reach. Additionally, they will help with discovering new creators to work with MPU and support a talent development process to allow creators to progressively strengthen their partnership with us. About the Position We are looking for a Vertical Video Editor to join our social media and distribution team. They will edit vertical videos for distribution across social media platforms, including breaking news coverage, footage from picket lines, protests and field shoots, on-camera explainers, and short videos emphasizing a strong point from our longer-form content. Editing skills are essential for the role as well as a passion for social media strategy and economic justice, strong time management and self-sufficiency, and a desire to learn in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Core Responsibilities: - Take ownership of end-to-end video editing, making sure that the content aligns with our brand and messaging; - Edit videos on a quick timeline, ensuring a fast turnaround without compromising quality; - Work closely with producers and other team members to meet editorial goals and deadlines; - Pull b-roll, news headlines, images and other media for videos to support the storytelling process; - Contribute to the creative direction of videos, providing innovative ideas that enhance the impact of our content; - Perform other duties as assigned. About the Position The Video Editor will work closely with other members of the video team as well as our reporters and producers to conceptualize, script, produce, and edit news-driven videos — with a mission to change policy in our country — ranging from breaking news, opinion pieces, policy explainers, exclusive interviews and short field documentaries. The Video Editor will report directly to the Supervising Producer. The Video Editor must be immersed in and excited about the process of telling stories through video, with the technical and narrative skills to create powerful stories that hook viewers and keep people watching to the end.
