Role Description The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for selling mortgages for residential properties as well as the refinancing of existing residential mortgages. The Mortgage Loan Originator develops new business to support the Company’s sales objectives by making independent sales calls on existing and/or potential customers from referral sources, and by the retention of current relationships. Key Responsibilities - Conducts daily sales calls with prospective customers by introducing the Company, developing a profile, providing a value proposition, and documenting the results within the Company client relationship management tool. - Conducts frequent communiques (i.e., telephone, electronic mail, etc.) with established/previous customers to see where additional opportunities exist for an expansion of business, and documenting the results within the Company client relationship management tool. - Generates mortgage submissions that are offered by the Company (e.g., Federal Housing Administration (FHA)/Conventional/United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)/Rural Development (RD), Jumbo, etc.) by working with customers and matching the appropriate product with their needs. - Provides information relevant to the risks and benefits of each program the applicant is qualified for; effectively explain and communicate the terms of each product and ensure all documents necessary are signed by the borrower. - Gathers all initial documentation required (e.g., 1003, paystubs, W-2’s, asset statements, etc.) based upon the customer’s selected loan program and inputs into the Company proprietary system. - Takes thorough and complete loan applications by analyzing and prequalifying the applicant information to determine the viability of the customer’s desired loan program. - Pulls credit, analyzes credit, and compares for accuracy with the mortgage borrower’s statements. - Actively seeks opportunities to stay informed on trends and developments in the real estate market, as well as changing rules and regulations pertaining to both conventional and government-insured mortgages. - Other responsibilities, as assigned.
