**Responsibilities** The Data Engineer has the following areas of work and responsibilities: **Data Engineering** - Write Python scripts to acquire data and process data from various academic, government, or commercial sources for use in Meridia’s product development - Maintain accurate, high-quality metadata on the company’s internal datasets using scripts, automation, and selected tooling - Develop internal tools and scripts to automate data processing and use technologies like Airflow, AWS, Google Cloud to scale and optimise ETL tasks of geospatial data - Maintain the team’s git repository of ETL scripts and adhere to version control best practices to ensure code is well organized, accessible, and reproducible by the entire team - Optimize data ingestion processes to ensure reliable, timely, and scalable delivery of data into downstream products and analytics workflows, particularly for large-scale raster and vector datasets - Monitor ingestion pipelines with logging, alerting, and metrics to detect failures or data inconsistencies - Contribute to our (internal) data catalogues, manuals, dictionaries, glossary and broader set of terminology in a coherent way across countries, products and projects. - Drive continuous improvements in operational efficiency by identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions **Core Data Engineering Skills** - Expertise in building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable ETL/data pipelines, especially for large and complex geospatial datasets, using modern orchestration and workflow tools such as Apache Airflow. - Proficient in cloud platforms (e.g. AWS), with hands-on experience architecting data storage, transformation, and metadata solutions in a secure and cost-effective manner using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform - Skilled in Python and relevant data engineering frameworks (e.g., Pandas, Pydantic, Rasterio, Tippecano) for automating data ingestion, cleaning, standardization, and geospatial transformation. - Solid understanding of data governance and best practices in version control (e.g., Git), documentation, data quality assurance, reproducibility, and collaboration in cross-functional data teams. **Learning and Development** The ideal candidate should be eager and willing to learn and grow in the role. You will be engaged in on-the-job training and development to learn about the land rights sector and our data systems and workflows. You will be mentored by our Data Engineering team in Indonesia and senior colleagues in the Netherlands.
• Product discovery: accountable for investigating roadmap candidates (using a blend of user interviews, surveys, product analytics & insights from internal domain experts) to determine the customer value and revenue impact we can deliver by serving specific ‘jobs to be done’ (JTBD). • User experience: collaborate with the methodology team, engineers and the wider Product team to ideate on concepts for cross-squad initiatives and select a solution to be built. You will be accountable for ensuring the test profiles and overarching methodology have a strong user experience and represent accurately the expected outcomes described by methodology. The product team that is part of the Portal squad will be accountable for ensuring the Portal itself has a strong user experience. • Product requirements: accountable for delivering requirements that engineers can then decompose into stories and tasks. This will entail working very closely with the Methodology team who own the vision and content of each test profile. • Communication: proactively communicate with stakeholders across the business to involve them in conversations as appropriate and keep them informed of progress on Engine initiatives • Execution: support the development process by troubleshooting obstacles on initiatives and collaborating closely with engineers in the Engine squad, the Data team and the Portal squad as well as stakeholders in Customer Success, Sales and Marketing. • Roadmap planning: collaborate with the Lead Product Manager, CPO, and other senior stakeholders to prioritise roadmap candidates and determine the sequence in which they’re built. • Backlog planning: own prioritisation of the backlog and bugs for the Engine squad • Success metrics: conceive how we measure success for each Engine squad initiative on the roadmap that enters development • Domain knowledge: develop a domain expertise on impacts associated to agricultural supply chains, such as corporate voluntary commitments and emerging regulatory frameworks such as the EU deforestation regulation (EUDR) • Market & competitor analysis: Regular analysis of the marketplace and competitors to inform product strategy and ensure Verify remains clearly differentiated • Documentation: documenting the key decisions and associated evidence & rationale throughout the product lifecycle for roadmap items that enter development • Enablement: ahead of release of roadmap items proactively train the Sales, Marketing & Customer Success in the JTBD we’re serving as well as high level, positioning & messaging

Job Description As Senior Product Manager for Meridia’s Engine, you will own the product roadmap and delivery of the Engine, a critical component of Meridia’s Verify platform. One of Meridia’s core differentiators is its proprietary methodology for implementing regulatory and voluntary sustainability standards. This methodology is operationalised through a curated suite of tests applied to tabular and geospatial data, enabling customers to identify, assess, and manage sustainability risks with confidence. In close partnership with the Methodology team — our sustainability domain experts — the Engine squad is responsible for implementing this methodology into a scalable, usable and reliable product experience. This includes building and evolving the Engine that executes these tests and ensures they deliver consistent, high-quality insights to Meridia’s customers. This role requires balancing strong technical and data understanding with commercial and customer insight. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will be part of the Engine squad alongside an Engineering Lead and a team of backend and GIS engineers. You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders across Product, Methodology, Engineering, Data, Customer Success, and Sales to shape how the Engine evolves to meet customer needs and support business growth. The Engine squad and broader Product team are distributed across Indonesia and Amsterdam, requiring strong collaboration across time zones and disciplines. This is a remote role based in Brasília, where a significant part of our Methodology team is located. Meridia offers a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. • Lead quality assurance (QA) of datasets prepared by the Data Officer and Data Associate to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness. • Standardize data structures, collection formats, and documentation across projects. • Maintain data processing SOPs and coordinate harmonization of project databases (farmer data, farm plots, training records, monitoring indicators). • Analyze agricultural and project datasets to generate insights on smallholder participation, farm characteristics, production, traceability, and program performance. • Produce dashboards, visualizations, and analytical summaries to support project teams. • Prepare and review data inputs for project and donor reporting (e.g., monthly and quarterly reports, monitoring indicators). • Review and develop AI training datasets and knowledge content on agronomic practices for the AI chatbot, ensuring accuracy, relevance to local farming contexts, and usability for project implementation and farmer support. • Together with the Data Associate, serve as an administrator responsible for managing, and maintaining project dashboards and project data systems. • Ensure project indicators and datasets are updated, integrated, and accessible. • Support development and tracking of project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) indicators. • Conduct analysis to assess program progress, outcomes, and key trends. • Provide technical guidance to Data Officers on data management and analysis. • Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure smooth data collection, processing, and reporting workflows. • Collaborate with partners and data vendors to ensure data quality standards are implemented.
