Role Description McMan Calgary & Area is seeking compassionate and committed individuals to become Therapeutic Foster Parents (TFPs) for youth ages 13–17 in our Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) program. This is a unique opportunity to provide a safe, supportive home while working alongside a professional care team to help youth build resilience, stability, and life skills. As a Therapeutic Foster Parent, you will welcome a youth into your home and provide day-to-day care, guidance, and support. You will play a key role in helping them navigate challenges, develop strengths, and experience a sense of belonging. Therapeutic Foster Care is a family-based alternative to group care, combining a nurturing home environment with therapeutic approaches tailored to each youth’s needs. What You’ll Do - Provide a stable, caring, and structured home environment - Support youth with emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs - Implement individualized Therapeutic Care Plans and strategies - Build positive, trusting relationships through consistent, supportive interactions - Support cultural, spiritual, and personal identity development - Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and participate in regular meetings - Maintain communication, documentation, and follow-through on plans Support & Training You will not be doing this alone. TFPs are supported by a dedicated team, including a family specialist, team lead, youth worker, and clinician. - Comprehensive pre-service training - Ongoing specialized training opportunities - 24/7 on-call support - Regular in-home support and coaching - Access to additional cultural and community resources Qualifications - Experience or willingness to learn about trauma-informed care - Ability to have a flexible schedule to meet the daily changing needs of the youth in your home - Ability to approach youth with empathy and understanding - Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills - Ability to follow structured plans and professional guidance - Openness to diverse cultures, beliefs, and practices - Capacity to balance caregiving responsibilities with training commitments - A stable home environment suitable for youth placement Benefits - Make a lasting impact in the life of a young person - Be part of a supportive, professional care team - Receive ongoing training and development - Play an active role in strengthening families and communities Compensation - Per Diem: Tax-free stipend that pays for the needs of the foster child and reimburses you for your parenting: $110 per night - Rate includes: daily living costs, clothing, child allowance, personal care items - Required training compensation - The program also compensates individuals for specialized agency training and respite care.
