Role Description We are seeking to add an Independent Contractor to our Workplace Safety Consulting practice who has subject matter expertise in Industrial Hygiene and Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) credentials. This opportunity is for an Independent Contractor only and does not constitute an employment relationship. Independent Contractors must reside in the U. S. and be legally authorized to perform services within the United States. - Provides expert advice, safety consulting and educational services to J. J. Keller clients on industrial hygiene programs and compliance, with an emphasis on exposure assessment, monitoring, and hazard evaluation. - Designs, develops, documents, and maintains training curriculum and instructional materials for general and client-specific applications. - Conducts industrial hygiene field assessments including: - Air sampling - Noise monitoring - Evaluation of chemical, physical, and biological hazards across various industries. - Plans and executes sampling strategies in accordance with OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and other applicable standards and guidance. - Analyzes sampling results, interprets data, and prepares clear, defensible technical reports summarizing findings, regulatory implications, and recommendations. - Communicates regulatory updates, recommendations, and findings to designated client contacts through reports, briefings, or presentations. - Provides advisory support to interpret regulatory requirements and practical application, without assuming responsibility for client compliance enforcement or ongoing operational oversight. Qualifications - Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) required. - Advanced experience conducting industrial hygiene assessments, including air and noise monitoring. - Demonstrated expertise in OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, and related industrial hygiene standards and guidance. - Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to Industrial Hygiene. - Proven history of providing independent safety consulting services within consulting and/or complex corporate environments. - Proficiency using business productivity tools (MS Office suite) necessary to deliver reports, presentations, and training materials. - Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation. - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with client representatives at all levels. - Maintains a high level of regulatory expertise. - Strong working knowledge of sales, marketing, and finance concepts related to operating an independent consulting practice. - Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle to perform required services. Requirements - Operate as an independent safety consulting business (e.g., sole proprietor, incorporated entity, or equivalent). - Provide services to multiple clients and maintain a non-exclusive consulting practice. - Supply their own tools, methodologies, instructional materials, and business processes necessary to deliver services. - Be responsible for all taxes, insurance, and business-related expenses. - Provide their own computer, equipment, and tools necessary to perform services. - Maintain appropriate professional liability coverage, as required under the contractual agreement. - Travel requirements vary based on client engagements, audit needs, and training delivery, and are defined by project or statement of work. Types of Services Requested: - Provides safety consulting and educational services to J. J. Keller clients through onsite engagements, off-site locations, and/or internet-based delivery methods in accordance with defined project scope. - Designs, develops, documents, and maintains training curriculum and instructional materials for general and client-specific applications. - Conducts safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments, based on applicable regulatory standards and client requirements. - Monitors relevant regulatory and compliance applicable to the scope of service and incorporates changes into deliverables and training content as appropriate. - Communicates regulatory updates, recommendations, and findings to designated client contacts through reports, briefings, or presentations. - Provides advisory support to interpret regulatory requirements and practical application, without assuming responsibility for client compliance enforcement or ongoing operational oversight. Qualifications - Recognized professional credentials in safety related discipline such as Canadian Registry of Safety Professionals (CRSP) certification or equivalent certification. - Demonstrated expertise providing safety consulting, regulatory advisory, auditing, and training services to commercial or industrial clients. - Proven history of providing independent safety consulting services within consulting and/or complex corporate environments. - Extensive experience advising general industry and construction safety requirements, including interpretation and application of applicable regulations. - Strong working knowledge of sales, marketing, and finance concepts related to operating an independent consulting practice. - Proficiency using business productivity tools (MS Office suite) necessary to deliver reports, presentations, and training materials. - Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation. - Demonstrated ability to work effectively with client representatives at all levels. - Maintains a high level of regulatory expertise. - Understanding of sales, marketing, and business finance concepts/applications. - Bi-lingual in English and French strongly preferred for certain client engagements, in applicable geographic areas. - Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle to perform required services.
