JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, of the Dean, this position provides clerical assistance to the assigned Department Chair(s) for the College. Duties include disseminating information to departmental employees as assigned by the Department Chair(s); assisting Department Chair(s) in performing tasks; and providing general clerical support. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Submits departmental meeting agendas and summaries to Department Chair(s). - Orders supplies and equipment for the Department Chairs as requested; initiates requisitions. - Assists the Department Chairs in preparing new and returning Adjunct Instructors with syllabi, textbooks, software, and systems as requested. - Assists the Department Chairs in the coordination and ordering of textbooks. - Assists the Department Chairs in the coordination of Advisory Committees. - Files, copies, types, and completes data entry for Department Chairs as requested. - Answers telephones. - Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: - Associate degree; two (2) years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. - Office Administrations Certificate from Indian River State College desired. - Knowledge of basic office functions and equipment. - Knowledge of telephone etiquette. - Skill in organizing, typing, word processing, data entry, filing, scheduling, and managing time. - Skill in delivering customer service. - Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications. - Ability to be accurate and detailed oriented, flexible, use good judgement, multi-task, be people oriented, handle varying deadlines, be self-motivated, interact with the public, and work independently as well as with others. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met. JOB SUMMARY: Under minimal supervision, this position support the development and implementation of an interdisciplinary curriculum, including needs assessments and pre- and post-assessments, for high school students from underrepresented backgrounds. Deliver high-quality classroom instruction in assigned academic subjects, evaluate individual student needs, and provide targeted tutoring and academic support as necessary. Course content is designed to be dynamic, engaging, and student-centered, emphasizing project-based learning, collaboration, and teamwork while incorporating multicultural perspectives. Mentors foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages active participation, promotes student engagement, and demonstrates a strong commitment to helping students achieve academic success. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Develops and implements engaging and interactive lesson plans in various subjects, including mathematics, science, English, foreign languages, and social studies. - Enforce and abide by Upward Bound rules and regulations - Participate in Staff Training, scheduled staff meetings, etc. - Provides individualized tutoring and academic support to students to enhance their understanding and performance in core subjects. - Monitors and assesses student progress regularly, provides constructive feedback to students and their parents or guardians. - Collaborates with other instructors and staff members to coordinate educational activities, workshops, and field trips. - Mentors and guides students in setting academic goals and developing effective study skills. - Assists students in preparing for standardized tests, including ACT and SAT, by offering test-taking strategies and practice sessions. - Provides guidance and support to students in the college application process, including researching colleges, writing personal statements, and applying for scholarships and financial aid. - Maintains accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, and program activities. - Understands and respects diverse believes and/or opinions with students and staff - Maintains a safe working area and conditions at all times - Dresses professionally and appropriately as related to the discipline - Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
