Role Description Our client is looking to hire a VP of Merchant Underwriting who can optimize underwriting strategy across merchant acquiring. This individual will balance growth acceleration with disciplined risk management, leveraging data, automation, and advanced analytics to drive profitable portfolio expansion while safeguarding the enterprise from credit, fraud, regulatory, and reputational risk. This role requires a commercially minded leader who can translate risk trends, regulatory expectations, and portfolio performance into actionable underwriting frameworks that enable responsible growth. Strategic Leadership - Define and execute on an underwriting strategy aligned to corporate growth targets, risk appetite, and capital efficiency objectives. - Establish and maintain dynamic risk frameworks segmented by vertical, channel, and product type. - Partner with internal teams to embed risk-adjusted decisioning into go-to-market strategy. Portfolio & Credit Risk Management - Oversee merchant underwriting across SMB, mid-market, and enterprise segments. - Develop and maintain underwriting policy, governance, and escalation protocols. - Monitor portfolio performance metrics (loss rates, chargeback exposure, fraud indicators, concentration risk) and proactively recalibrate underwriting criteria. - Support with the implementation of predictive modeling and machine learning capabilities to enhance risk scoring and pricing precision. Operational Excellence - Drive automation and straight-through processing to improve speed-to-decision while preserving control integrity. - Optimize workflow design, capacity planning, and service-level standards to support scalable growth. - Build robust QA and second-line review mechanisms to ensure policy adherence and regulatory compliance. Risk & Regulatory Governance - Ensure practices comply with card brand rules, sponsor bank requirements, AML/BSA standards, and applicable state and federal regulations. - Maintain strong documentation, audit trails, and defensible decision frameworks. - Serve as primary underwriting liaison during regulatory exams, sponsor bank reviews, and internal audits. Data & Technology Enablement - Decisioning, including integration of alternative data sources and third-party risk intelligence tools. - Collaborate with Technology and Data teams to modernize underwriting systems and reduce manual friction points. - Leverage analytics to identify emerging industry risk trends and proactively adjust exposure. People & Leadership - Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing underwriting and risk professionals. - Establish a culture of accountability, analytical rigor, and commercial partnership. - Create clear performance KPIs tied to portfolio outcomes and operational efficiency. This role is critical to building a resilient, scalable payments platform that accelerates merchant acquisition without compromising enterprise integrity. The VP of Underwriting will serve as both a growth enabler and a risk guardian, ensuring the organization remains agile, compliant, and competitively positioned in an evolving payments landscape. Qualifications - Extensive progressive underwriting or credit risk leadership experience within the industry. - Deep expertise in merchant risk, card-not-present exposure, chargeback management, fraud typologies, and high-risk vertical underwriting. - Demonstrated experience scaling underwriting functions in high-growth environments. - Strong knowledge of card network rules, sponsor bank frameworks, AML/BSA expectations, and regulatory risk management principles. - Proven track record of leveraging analytics, automation, and technology to modernize risk operations. - Executive-level communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and board-level audiences.
Role Description The Director of Product - Payments will lead product strategy and execution for payments across multiple vertical platforms and will own a small product team that delivers measurable business outcomes for our client and their customers. - Lead and grow a small product team (2-4 direct reports) of product managers and product owners, providing coaching, career development, performance management, and hiring support. - Own the payments product strategy and roadmap across multiple platform integrations, aligning team priorities with company objectives and revenue targets. - Manage cross-functional programs that include support, implementation, sales, marketing, engineering, product operations, business operations, and design to coordinate successful product rollouts and integrations. - Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners to identify needs, validate product direction, and prioritize features that save time and improve profitability. - Use quantitative customer behavior metrics, qualitative research, and competitive benchmarks to validate hypotheses, measure results, and iterate rapidly. - Conduct market and payments-industry research to identify new product opportunities, pricing models, and potential revenue streams (card processing, ACH, alternative payments). - Own communications about product initiatives: motivate internal stakeholders, explain expected learnings, and demonstrate how work ties to overall strategy. - Partner with Product Operations to ensure smooth, transparent rollouts and to operationalize best practices for release, monitoring, and adoption. - Hold third-party vendors and partners accountable to delivery and contractual objectives; manage vendor relationships and escalations when needed. - Define success metrics, predict and measure financial impact of product changes, and report progress and outcomes to senior leadership. Qualifications - 8+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, with at least 2 years in a people-management or lead role. - Deep knowledge of card payment processing; experience with ACH and alternative payment methods preferred. - Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional programs and dependencies across product, engineering, design, sales, and customer success. - Experience managing and holding third-party vendors accountable to meet objectives and SLAs. - Strong analytical skills: able to build financial models, predict impact, measure outcomes, and present clear ROI cases. - Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; comfortable navigating hard conversations and building consensus across senior audiences. - Resourceful problem-solver with strong user empathy and data-driven decision-making. - Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery, including writing actionable user stories and prioritizing backlog trade-offs. Requirements - Experience scaling payments products across multiple vertical SaaS platforms or embedded payments environments. - Experience with modern payments stacks (tokenization, gateways, processors, ISO/MSP relationships).
Role Description The SVP, Head of Commercial Lending is responsible for supervising a group of commercial lenders and the management of commercial loans. Develops loans, deposits and fee income with both existing and prospective customers. Negotiates loan facilities while balancing the customer's needs with the Bank's risk profile, growth, and earnings goals. Essential Functions: - Analyze the applicant or client's financial status, credit, market conditions, competition, and property evaluations to determine the feasibility of granting loans and under what terms and conditions. - Monitor an existing commercial loan portfolio to ensure proper risk ratings and early identification of potential problems. - Prepare for approval within specified time limits and refer loan requests outside of those limits to senior management for approval. - Develop new loan and deposit business with prospective customers. - Communicate with applicants and existing clientele to discuss loan applications and to answer questions about the process. Explain to customers and applicants the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services. - Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants and existing customer's credit histories, corporate financial statements and other necessary financial information to begin the credit decision process. This would also include ordering collateral valuations if required. - Review and update credit and loan files as required by loan policy. Monitor Commercial Loan Maturity Reports so as to evaluate the necessary steps, as well as financial and collateral information needed to be obtained from the client to underwrite renewals. - Monitor and participate in the collection efforts of Commercial Loan Officers to assure the timely collection of all delinquent accounts. Provide direction and assistance as needed or requested in collecting seriously delinquent accounts. - Monitor and maintain a Loan Officer calling program; establish and maintain positive relationships with existing and prospective commercial customers and referral sources. - Monitor exception reports for follow up by loan officers for correct loan documentation for errors. - Facilitate and participate in Loan Officer training. - Conduct monthly meetings with Commercial Loan officers. Qualifications - Experience in commercial lending and loan management. - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients.
