• Partner with Vice President, Sales to determine the most effective activity to reach the target distribution partners that will be successful in selling Illinois Mutual life products and develop a defined strategy for successfully recruiting and growing this distribution channel • Motivate and retain existing agent production and create new relationships through phone contacts, meetings, regional training workshops, and coordinated efforts with internal sales team members. • Proactively communicate with management in regard to regional progress, activity changes, industry and competitor trends, and ideas or initiatives that could benefit agent distribution and grow sales. • Work with internal sales team members to determine targeted activity plan via phone and webinars and keep team informed of leads from the region and support-related needs generated from field meetings/requests. • Conduct quality field calls by understanding the agent’s business model, educating agent distribution about Illinois Mutual life products, sales concepts, sales tools, resources, and best practices to help grow their business. • Complete recruiting reports and update sales system to document all activity including phone calls, agent meetings, and workshops per outlined format • Travel regularly to work effectively throughout designated territory and achieve face-to-face agent meeting objectives to grow existing partnerships and build new agent relationships. • Build positive relationships and maintain excellent communication with all departments in the Home Office. • Execute job functions with energy, professionalism and integrity.
Medical Director – Part Time

• Provide timely, high quality medical underwriting consultations and assessments to life and disability underwriting teams. • Review and interpret electrocardiograms, stress tests, laboratory results and other diagnostic tests as requested by underwriting teams. • Review medical records of applicants for life and disability income insurance to assess mortality and morbidity risk. • Provide ongoing education of underwriters through individual case discussions, explanations and clarifications provided in medical referrals. • Assist claims staff with the review of life and disability claims and medical conditions which require physician input regarding reasonableness of care, treatment and/or restrictions/limitations cause by said conditions. • Serve as a resource in the evaluation of contestable claims. • Provide training through lectures, training materials and participation in company-wide underwriter education programs as requested by management, but at least on a quarterly basis. • Conduct ongoing research as it relates to changes in mortality and morbidity and advise underwriters as to such changes. • Maintain current, in-depth knowledge of medical literature via ongoing journal review and other continuing education such as attendance at industry and non-industry medical conferences. • Demonstrate understanding of standard and excess mortality and morbidity as it relates to specific disease states. • Interact with Life and DI insurance agents and attending physicians as case needs warrant. • Provide feedback to and interact with various reinsurance providers related to Life and DI underwriting risks. • Research changes in medical survival trends and provide input into underwriting guidelines for in-house underwriting manuals. • Participate in decision/policy making committees as requested. • Participate in New Business projects as requested.
