Role Description This NON-PAID philanthropic board member would be our Social Media Executive on our Board of Directors. This position is purely philanthropic and is for an executive who wants to give back and likely has experienced the cancer journey with a friend or loved one. Nonprofit board members give of their time, talent, and treasure. We have a "working board," meaning our board members are involved in our operations, donating an average of 5 hours per week. We do have a donation requirement because our funders (including grant foundations) require that our board be donors to the organization before they will provide grants. - Potential board member understands how to leverage social media to develop communities of support. - Understands integrated media, including the major social media platforms, and how to use all their tools effectively. - Wishes to increase awareness and engagement with people who need our services. - Aims to improve donations and bring in volunteers. - Helps increase participation in our online care communities. - Connects with influencers and builds an engaged community of support. - Understands social media groups and how to leverage them to build members into our family online care communities through social media. Qualifications - Social Media strategy and execution. - Experience with social media platforms and leveraging them to improve awareness, community development, and interactions with platform members. - Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube experience a must. This public relations board member will have the tools, experience, and knowledge to reach out to media people who can improve our awareness. - Access to media databases and relationships with print, TV, Radio, podcasts, and influencers. - Know how to contact people of influence, celebrities, sports figures, podcasters, and entertainment figures. - Tasked with increasing awareness of Here to Serve's wraparound support programs for families with children battling cancer. Our desire is to become a charity known at the same level as Make a Wish, but in the area of family support throughout the cancer journey, providing the needed resources and support. Qualifications - Experience in public relations or related field. - Strong communication and networking skills. - Passion for supporting families affected by cancer. This financial services board member will have experience in wealth planning, asset management, hedge funds, and investments, and has been actively involved in wealth management and growth. He/she will want the social impact of serving on a board that changes the trajectory of the lives of families impacted by cancer and wants to help them. The ideal board member will come with a wealth of information on how to positively impact people of means who wish to direct their giving to a worthwhile organization. In addition, they will know others in their field with whom they can share our mission and vision to help families with children battling cancer. We are actually located in Monrovia, San Gabriel Valley. Most work will be remote, as will be board meetings, which are conducted online.
