Role Description We are seeking Mortgage Loan Originators to join our team in key markets: - Chicago, Illinois - Birmingham, Alabama - Huntsville, Alabama - Madison, Mississippi - Nashville, Tennessee - Chattanooga, Tennessee - Knoxville, Tennessee - Texas ***These positions are commission based - compensation is based entirely on commissions earned.*** The Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) is responsible for originating customer loans through internal referral sources which will be directed to them from various sources. These sources may include inbound calls from credit union members, customers, website inquiries and requests, branch staff referrals (both credit union member and non-member). The MLO will initiate outbound calls to prospective customers. The MLO provides timely, accurate and professional assistance to customers for the purpose of securing residential mortgage loans. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will: - Respond to all internal referrals for residential mortgage loans to meet production goals. - Determine potential borrower’s qualifications based on full knowledge of mortgage loan products and services, obtain all necessary documentation to process, approve and close potential mortgage loans. - Solicit self-generated contacts for residential mortgage loans to meet production goals. - Act as the liaison for the borrower during the approval/closing process, as needed. - Participate in community events to identify and promote mortgage products. - Handle all referral calls in a timely and professional manner, including outbound prospecting calls to current and potential customers. - Develop external community relationships via branches to expand opportunities. - Perform all lending activities in compliance with federal and state laws, rules and regulations, and comply with company policies, code of conduct and procedures. - Maintain positive working relationships with other departments and staff. - Acquire, maintain and incorporate a full knowledge of mortgage loan products and services offered by the credit union. - Possess proficiency in structuring loans to meet agency guidelines – FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and any other specialty programs offered by a GSE or Government Related Entity. - Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations, and following all company policies, procedures and internal controls. - All other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Minimum of three years of similar experience or related experience. - Current NMLS license and state licensing (or ability to obtain). - Strong sales and relationship-building skills. - Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. - Self-motivated with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
