Role Description Goodwin University is seeking a psychology professional to serve as a consultant to help develop the proposed new online Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Applied Psychology program, including its Forensic Psychology and Human Services tracks. The consultant will research and design the curriculum, prepare the program for university approval, and partner with academic leadership, possible internship sites, and advisory groups to ensure the program reflects current disciplinary standards, workforce needs, and best practices in online learning. This work may develop into an opportunity for a permanent Program Director position. Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities - Research, evaluate, and prepare recommendations on future curricula for a new online B.S. in Applied Psychology program, including its Forensic Psychology and Human Services tracks. - Develop partnerships with advisory and workforce groups to gain knowledge of competency areas and to relate curriculum materials to specific career skills, individual student needs, occupational areas, and disciplinary knowledge. - Ensure that core courses are developed and maintained according to applicable accreditation, certification, or other requirements. - Write and finalize the B.S. in Applied Psychology program outcomes, curriculum, assessments, and other related materials to submit for the university approval process. - Work with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) to develop course and program assessments that evaluate student learning and the effectiveness of instructional strategies and methods to achieve learning outcomes. - Work directly with an instructional designer to develop or redevelop online courses for the program, based on best instructional design practices and aligned with UDL guidelines. - Consult with academic leadership to ensure that program components and parameters fit within the school’s mission and career-readiness outcomes. - Conduct all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed. Qualifications - Earned Master’s Degree in Psychology or a closely related field required; Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) preferred. - Knowledge of curriculum development and program approval processes preferred. - Prior leadership and/or faculty experience in an applied psychology and related concentration areas of forensic psychology and human services preferred. - Professional experience in an academic environment required. - Prior experience teaching and developing curriculum at the college or university level. - Professional experience in applied psychology fields. - Experience with online synchronous and asynchronous program development strongly preferred. Role Description The School of Applied Liberal Arts and of Social Sciences invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate Human Services credit-bearing courses. Successful candidates will be available to teach a synchronous online course that meets one evening per week at 6:00 PM. Adjunct faculty members report to the Human Services Program Director, who serves under the direction of the Dean. Adjunct faculty members provide students with high-quality learning experiences on a semester-by-semester basis. Adjunct faculty members are expected to perform all instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of Goodwin University. Essential Duties - Abiding by and upholding Goodwin's mission, policies, and core values. - Teaching undergraduate and high school students in assigned course(s). - Implementing assigned courses as designed and specified in approved syllabi. - Using Canvas effectively. - Assigning grades based on the criteria specified in course syllabi and posting them to Canvas and the University’s data systems within 7 days of assignment submission. - Posting initial and midweek Canvas Announcements consistently each week. - Providing students with individual consultations as needed. - Assisting students with strategies for success in class. - Providing action-oriented feedback on assignments, during synchronous class sessions, and individually. - Communicating in a timely manner with students, faculty, and staff. - Meeting all course and semester timelines, including submitting attendance, progress survey and student support alerts, mid-term grades, and final grades by the specified due dates. - Staying current within the field of study.
