Role Description Develop accurate, on-time estimates for prospective and listed projects. Review and coordinate preconstruction activities, based on each project’s scope of work. - Interpret architectural and structural drawings/specs for the purpose of developing project cost. - Coordinate vendors & third-party resources as required for project development. - Clarify and coordinate information with Sales, Engineering, Production, Field & Project Management. - Perform detailed quantity take-off for project estimation. - Review and adjust for cost changes throughout the life cycle of a project. - Undertake training on estimating systems, as well as the overall function and purpose of the company. - Attend meetings as required. - Special projects assigned by management. Qualifications - Minimum of two (2) year degree in Drafting/Estimating, Project/Construction management, or Architecture. - Working knowledge and ability to interpret architectural/structural drawings and specifications. - High scanning accuracy and high mathematical aptitude. - Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Expert in Excel. - Willingness and ability to quickly learn new procedures. - Well organized and detail oriented. - Able to maintain focus on a given task. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Able to work with others in a collaborative manner. - Demonstrate dedication to safety, customer satisfaction, quality and efficiency. - Exhibit the ability and ambition for upward mobility in the organization. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Project/Construction management, Civil / Structural Engineering or Architecture (preferred). Physical Requirements - Ability to travel. - Work variable hours. - Office: Move 25lbs (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of time. - Field (periodic): Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs, spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer. - Plant/Yard (periodic): Move minimum of 50lbs, spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projection. Work Environment - This position is available as either a remote opportunity, or in an office environment at our locations. - Office: Quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lighting. - Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles. - Plant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkways.
• Produce precast product elevations; a design set for the engineer, an approval set for the customer, and a final set for the field to use along with production drawings, steel drawings, and miscellaneous drawings for the plant and vendors use. • Layout precast units to correlate with plans, specifications, addendum, and the bid package • Recommend efficient and cost saving panel layouts to the related parties • Communicate with external contacts (Architects, Engineers, General Contractors, Steel Vendors, Outsource Companies, and their related positions), as well as internal contacts as needed • Document any changes or concerns and forward to the job team • Carry out all other related tasks to reach the goals of the drafting group • Help create and improve standards
• Perform economical engineering design for precast products to meet structural and constructability requirements. • Work closely with drafters, mentors, supervisors, and other specialists. • Review contract documents to understand scope and direction of assigned projects. • Develop efficient designs based upon industry standards and Fabcon standards. • Perform reviews of Fabcon shop drawings for technical accuracy. • Assist production checkers to ensure timely delivery of production drawings. • Support project managers and field personnel with site issues. • Provide efficient field fix designs when applicable. • Complete work in a timely manner to assist in workflow and maintain schedule requirements. • Support and mentor lower level engineers as needed.
• A Design Engineer I performs economical engineering design for precast products to meet all structural and constructability requirements. • Review contract documents to understand scope and direction of assigned projects. • Develop efficient design based upon industry standards as well as Fabcon design and detailing standards. • Perform reviews of Fabcon shop drawings for technical accuracy and work with drafters and higher-level engineers to finalize drawings for customer submittal. • Assist production checkers to ensure on-time delivery of production drawings to the plant. • Assist project managers and field personnel with issues encountered on site. • Provide efficient field fix designs utilizing available resources to mitigate delays in construction. • Complete work in a timely manner to assist in workflow to internal and external customers and maintain schedule requirements. • When assistance is required, reach out to supervisor, mentor, and other Design Engineers for collaboration/support.
