Role Description Students Demand Action is seeking a Postgraduate Organizing Fellow to manage and support student volunteers in a group of states in the Eastern Region of the country. As a member of the Students Demand Action team, you will work collaboratively with an interdepartmental regional team to support state, local, and federal campaigns in their states. As an Organizing Fellow, you will be the point of contact for Students Demand Action leaders and play a vital role in the leadership development of student volunteers, strengthening the Students Demand Action Organizing Model and building an inclusive and equitable movement. The Organizing Fellow will receive training and resources upon starting, including background on the gun violence prevention movement, Everytown’s policy positions, managing for equity and inclusion, and volunteer management training. As an Organizing Fellow, you will: - Collaborate with student leaders to identify innovative gun violence prevention campaigns with a specific youth lens and focus. - Develop campaign plans for Students Demand Action campaigns. - Develop campaign toolkits and training curricula. - Organize students to implement campaigns to reduce gun violence in their communities. - Build diverse teams using management skills for equity and inclusion to equip volunteer leaders with the same skill set and knowledge. - Work with the Students Demand Action team to deliver campaign-specific training content to Students Demand Action leaders and members. - Collaborate across Everytown teams to build robust campaign plans and elevate the work of student leaders. - Develop, implement, and report out on plans to retain and grow Students Demand Action leaders and team members in your region. - Ensure campaign plans are in touch with realities on the ground; act as a bridge between student leaders and other stakeholders to make sure the organization’s plans are realistic and set up to succeed. This position may include up to 25% of time traveling and in the field. Qualifications - Experience organizing with High School and College Students to support their activism. - Emotional intelligence to develop strong relationships across multiple teams. - An ability to be flexible and thrive in a fast-paced organization with multiple projects and priorities. - Experience and commitment to addressing inclusion and equity in campaign organizing and movement building. - Understanding of how stereotypes, bias, and forms of racism in America impact our society. - Passion for the organization’s mission and interest in supporting our grassroots team. - Experience organizing volunteers on a campaign. Requirements - Fluency in Spanish is a plus. - Preference for hiring people who are survivors of gun violence, have lived experience with gun violence, or are from a community disproportionately impacted by gun violence. - Proficiency with the tools we commonly use, including G-Suite, VAN, Slack, and Microsoft Office. Benefits - This position is a one-year Fellowship and can be performed either in our NY or DC office or remotely. - The salary for this role is $71,000 per year. - Everytown offers a generous benefits package including PTO, 401K Match, Education Assistance, and more.
