Country Manager (Wales) Part time 26.25 hours per week (0.7 FTE) Funded role, fixed term until the end of June 2027 From £24,500pa pro-rata. £35,000pa full time equivalent Eden Project is an educational charity with a UK-wide community outreach programme that supports positive action for people and planet. We’re hiring a Wales Country Manager to lead delivery of Eden Project’s campaigns in Wales specifically The Big Lunch—growing awareness, participation and impact through strong partnerships, campaigning and community engagement. What you’ll be doing - Lead strategy, delivery and evaluation of The Big Lunch programme in Wales (The Big Lunch, Month of Community and the Network) against agreed outcomes. - Deliver Wales-focused campaign activity with PR/Comms colleagues, including proactive social media. - Build partnerships across Wales (businesses, funders, government, councils and community organisations) to raise profile, secure support and increase participation. - Gather case studies and evidence of impact from across Wales to support evaluation and reporting. - Represent Eden Project and The Big Lunch publicly, promoting participation and fundraising opportunities where appropriate. - Support programme delivery through research, materials development, record-keeping and budget tracking in line with Eden policies. About you - Level 3 / A Level (or equivalent) education with strong literacy and numeracy. - Significant experience in a similar role delivering programmes across multiple areas, with associated marketing/comms/PR (ideally charity/community sector). - Strong campaign and relationship management skills; able to engage diverse stakeholders and audiences. - Good understanding of community challenges in Wales and the political, cultural and societal context. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including confident public speaking. - Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office) and experience using a CRM system. - Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and make sound decisions. - Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel across Wales/UK (including occasional overnight stays). - Welsh speaker desirable but not essential Role details - Home-based, with lone working (you’ll need a suitable space to work effectively) - Regular travel across Wales and occasional UK travel; some evening/weekend working to support communities and events - You’ll be part of a supportive, passionate UK-wide team, with offices at the Eden Project in Cornwall The closing date for this role is 27th April 2026 Appointments will be subject to satisfactory references and the right to work in the UK Our commitment: Eden Project is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and volunteers. Role purpose Eden Project is an educational charity with a unique community outreach programme which demonstrates engagement, positive action for people and planet and the creation of real social capital on a mass scale. The post holder will act as a front line ambassador, leading the development and campaign delivery for The Big Lunch and Month of Community within one or more UK nations (Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales) as part of a UK wide programme. The post holder leads on developing an in-Nation strategy to embed The Big Lunch, our flagship initiative, in the minds of the public, media, partners and leaders in the community sector. The role holder will be responsible for increasing audience awareness, participation and engagement in Nation and also for helping to establish The Big Lunch as a fundraising opportunity and the Eden Project as a potential recipient. Key accountabilities - Manage the strategic planning, delivery and evaluation of The Big Lunch Programme including but not limited to The Big Lunch, Month of Community and the network across the specified UK nation/s to drive awareness and participation to new heights and ensure delivery against all Programme outcomes and objectives. - Support the delivery of the annual UK PR and Communications campaign by working hand in hand with PR colleagues to identify local resources or agencies to raise awareness of key initiatives and encourage people to participate within the nation, tailoring messaging as appropriate. Engage in proactive social media activity to support the campaign and increase our reach and attract significant numbers of new followers and work with them to encourage additional participation in The Big Lunch. - Develop and implement events in-country to provide a vibrant landscape of activity for participants. Supporting Community Engagement colleagues and the UK wide network through the delivery of on line and in person events and activities ensuring access for all the nations participants. Support awareness and recruitment for these events. - Develop and maintain key strategic relationships to raise the profile of Eden Project outreach initiatives and encourage involvement and endorsement of The Big Lunch, The Month of Community and other Eden initiatives including the Network. These may include businesses, funders, specific parliamentary or government departments, councils, local government and other community stakeholder bodies such as housing associations, charities and NGOs. - Support the evaluation and research of the programme by gathering case studies and other relevant information to demonstrate impact and reach to funders and to inspire and encourage others into community action. Work with partners to support them to share their story on and where applicable help maintain that ongoing relationship, ensuring the visibility of positive action taken in communities and for nature, to encourage others to join in. - Represent Eden Project and our flag ship initiative The Big Lunch, raising awareness of the fundraising opportunity to members of the public, participants, community bodies and leaders of organisations within nation/s, driving awareness of, engagement with and participation in all aspects the Programme, and seeking support as appropriate. - Support the overall smooth running of The Big Lunch Programme with regard to idea generation, research, team development, materials development and other activities as required. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all in-nation expenditure in accordance with agreed budget and within Eden's policies and procedures Demands of the role Education & qualifications Educated to Level 3 or A Level as a minimum, high levels of literacy & numeracy. Knowledge & skills The jobholder will have gained several years’ experience, in a similar role, where they will have managed Nationwide programme delivery and the associated marketing, communication and PR campaigns within the charity/community sector. An accomplished campaign and relationship manager, the role holder will have a thorough knowledge of the specific challenges affecting local communities in their territory and an understanding of the political, cultural and societal issues affecting the region and the UK as a whole as they will manage a key area of the UK. Excellent communication and Microsoft IT skills including use of CRM are critical too. Decision-making The jobholder works independently, implementing strategic plans and delivering the required outcomes for The Big Lunch Programme in-country. Works to medium term objectives and applies professional judgement to decisions in-Nation where the impact will be apparent within a few weeks, discussing longer term/strategic issues with their line manager. Regularly updates line manager & Director on progress and outcomes. Resourcefulness Required to think creatively and innovatively to solve problems and identify new approaches to deliver a continually evolving Programme. Undertakes independent research and applies existing knowledge to develop recommendations for Social Marketing, PR and events strategies. Evaluates all elements of activity and identifies opportunities to add value to every element of the Programme in their territory. People & asset management Accountable for the delivery of approved activity within budget with authority to authorise payments up to £1k for in nation spend including managing PR agency partners in-Nation where applicable. Responsible for managing and reconciling expenses and for the security and care of all in-country equipment for the Programme and sensitive personal data for participants including case studies. Communication & visitor experience Working as Eden Projects’ representative in Nation, building and developing influential relationships with a variety of key stakeholders in order to maximize engagement and support for The Big Lunch Programme. An accomplished communicator using a variety of channels there is a regular need to present, interpret and assess information and adapt their approach to suit all types of audience: ranging from Ministers in devolved government, Funders, corporate and charity partners through to considerate handling of individuals in local communities. Adept at public speaking and campaigning and develops networks in Nation to support growth. Operational environment This role will require lone working and is home based. Work with communities can be outside of usual hours including weekend and evening work and UK based travel. The role forms part of a hardworking, fun and passionate team spread across the UK, with offices at the Eden Project in Cornwall. All home based roles will need the role holder to ensure they have a suitable space to work effectively in. There will also be some long distance travel and overnight stays required to deliver this role, therefore a full clean driving license is essential.

Demands of the role Education & qualifications Educated A-level or equivalent with excellent communication and people engagement skills. Full clean driving license required for regular travel across the UK Knowledge & skills Several years’ experience in community development and organising events and experiences. Experience of working in the community sector or on developing networks essential. A strategic thinker with strong relationship building and networking skills. Experience of delivering projects and developing content materials highly desirable. Excellent communication and IT skills including confidence across social media and online delivery platforms such as Zoom, Teams, Streamyard etc experience with CRM systems and Canva desirable. Decision- making The post will require a significant amount of lone working, and whilst connected to a team and supported by a Line Manager, the post holder will need to be able to think strategically to drive the development of and implementation of the engagement and support model across the UK, factoring in local context and needs. Working to medium term objectives where decisions made will impact within a few weeks/months and will influence the programme development. Resourcefulness This role requires a high level of innovation, strategic thinking and creativity. Adaptive thinking is key to maximizing opportunities and ensuring delivery against outcomes. The post holder will review the most appropriate channels and platforms required to support participants and the network and develop a format that works in a local context and fits needs. Working with the network so that it can be sustained will require the trialing of different approaches and applying the learning from these in a short space of time. People & asset management No Line management but strong co working, team working and relationship building skills and likely to manage a number of volunteers at Events. Responsible for assets, resources and budget recommendations to line manager. Responsible for the safety and protection of participants involved in the programme at events and for the maintenance and security of personal data relating to participants. Communication & visitor experience Highly developed communications, tact, strength of personality and strong team working and relationship building skills are integral to this role. The post holder must be experienced in formulating, articulating and communicating to people at all levels from partners, local councils and local organisations to the considerate handling of individuals in local communities.
