Role Description The purpose of the Supervising Professional Engineer position is to assure exceptional quality is provided for all projects completed for various clients in the power delivery trade. The position provides oversight to assure each project is completed in a safe, cost-effective, and reliable manner as well as in compliance with electrical engineering regulations. - Ensure deliverables released by design/engineering staff include the proper material lists, requisitions, labor estimates, site drawings, and construction drawings. - Make accurate engineering calculations. - Provide supervision and mentoring to assigned staff. - Verify power delivery equipment and material such as transformers, fusing, conductor capacity, etc. - Verify all projects are designed and in compliance with client’s specs. - Approval of time and expense reports. - Employee development and evaluations. - Participate in the development and management of operational budgets and strategic priorities. - Accountable for assigned operational P&L. - Develop relationships with key internal and external customers. - Perform other duties as assigned by leadership. - Lead and participate in operational and corporate initiatives. - Participate in the preparation of bids, RFPs, and RFIs. - Learn, practice, and promote ALL safety policies and procedures 100% of the time. - Participate in development, training, and hiring needs for staff as needed. Qualifications - A BS Engineering Degree in engineering. - Professional Engineer registration. - A minimum of 8 years of power delivery experience. - Advanced knowledge of the NESC. - PMP certification is preferred but not required. - Proficient in advanced principles and practices of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, general science, and scales of weight and measurements. - Proficient user of MS Project and Microsoft Office based applications. - Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community. - Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. - Utilized common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions. - Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion with business information. - Self-motivated, savvy, reliable, trustworthy, and technically competent. - Demonstrated team player. - Demonstrated time management skills. - Effective oral and written communication skills. - Ability to constructively manage multiple tasks. - Possess valid driver’s license and vehicle suitable for business use. - Ability to travel up to 15%. Overnight stay may be required. Requirements - Physical requirements involve performing general office activities. - Regularly walk up to 2 miles per day. - Occasionally sit, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms. - Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. - Indoor climate-controlled office environment. - Occasional overnight travel is required. Career Progression The Supervising Professional Engineer is a high-level management position in the Design/Engineering department. This position requires a BS Engineering degree with Professional Engineering registration and a minimum of 8 years of experience. This position can lead to increased management responsibilities resulting in upward promotions.
