Job Summary: The Product Safety Engineer provides high quality certification services to the HVAC market, efficiently and effectively meeting the client’s need to demonstrate compliance while ensuring safe products are available in the public marketplace. This activity requires interpretation of HVAC standards, processes, and procedures. Makes technical decisions based on a high degree of knowledge, training and experience on certification and testing to maintain the integrity of CSA’s global certification programs. Knowledge and current experience with UL 60335-2-40 Fourth Edition is required. Please note, this position is based out of the Dallas, TX area and will operate mainly as a remote employee. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: - Independently manage certification projects concurrently ensuring compliance with all applicable safety requirements, while achieving completion within allotted time frames. - Evaluate products against requirements of the national / international standards and precedent decisions. - Effectively manage project costs within the agreed budget. - Maintain productivity in line with company expectations. - Demonstrates technical competence to review the work of others. - Demonstrates technical competence to perform testing and witness testing. - Reviews test setup, data and reports and authorizes application of the CSA Mark. Prepares and / or signs Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance. - Provides client with assistance in solving problems / failures without divulging proprietary information. - Keeps management informed of project status as required, pointing out major problems and non-compliance(s). - Evaluates and qualifies companies in the administration of Certification Programs. Reviews customer test methods and systems; reviews new / old product designs and all applicable documentation. Ensures all test equipment and quality procedures are within guidelines. Provides technical briefings on new and existing requirements. Authorizes application and / or removal of the CSA Mark. - Provides technical information service to external and internal customers including those forwarded by the Client Service Center. Liaises with customer in design stage to ensure requirements of national / international standards are met without compromising confidentiality. - Works with sales to support current clients and develop new client opportunities to support growth. - Classifies product by use, environment, and function. Determines applicable requirements / test / standards. Determines sample requirements and method / location for testing / evaluation best suited to customers’ needs. Determines required work effort needed to complete scope of work. - Provides client feedback to Managers, Team Leader or Sales representatives, as appropriate. - Explains the different product certifications programs available to clients and the requirements for control of production. - Performs within established quality guidelines. - Prepares Test Lab Work Orders and Special Testing Documentation that includes details regarding applicable sections of relevant standards, test sample plan, data collection methods and tables, Job Hazard Analysis, and any other instructions. - Ensures proper application of requirements and data collection methods during testing. - Able to demonstrate testing within CSA laboratories. - Makes field trips and witnesses test work at manufacturer's facilities as required. - Has a good knowledge of the clauses and tests within the standards they support and can demonstrate application across multiple product types. - Demonstrates the ability to compile evaluation record, data and summary test results into forms, templates, and checklists without the need for supervision. - Demonstrates the ability to correctly interpret the results from the tests with only minimal guidance and supervision. Preferred Education & Experience: - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 3 - 10 years of job-related experience - Broad knowledge of CSA and UL Standards in the HVAC area - Specific knowledge of, and experience with, UL 60335-2-40 Fourth Edition - Knowledge of a variety of testing procedures. - Demonstrate the ability to confidently and clearly communicate, explain findings, test results and technical decisions to others, including customers and other engineers. - Test engineering experience - Knowledge of CSA programs and services. Skills: - Ability to read and interpret technical documents. - Detail oriented and dedicated to quality work. - Self-starter who can take direction and adapt to changes. - High level of interpersonal and communication skills. - Customer service oriented. - Critical thinker with exceptional problem-solving ability. - Strong organizational, time and project management skills to complete job tasks independently and in a time-efficient manner. - Ability to work unsupervised, in a team-based work environment. - Technical report writing. - Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office). - Use of various lab equipment, instruments, and tools. Role Description We are seeking to increase our network of NAMs in the UK within our Industrial equipment/machinery and Hazardous Locations sector. This role could be home based if preferred. Primary Function: - Serves as the primary customer contact in the development of new accounts. - Works with Marketing to determine prospects and help nurture the leads to develop accurate new account strategies to win business with companies that do not currently do work with CSA Group. - Fills the pipeline by utilizing company research tools, defining value in the eyes of the prospect, prioritizing leads, and developing prospecting call plans. - Builds customer profiles and call plans that address why prospects are not currently using CSA, thus best addressing yellow lights and articulating CSA’s value proposition to win their business. Duties & Responsibilities: - Establishes new account relationships to meet personal sales targets, emphasizing the entire value chain of CSA Group services available. - Independently prospects for new customers within assigned territory, using various lead generation and direct solicitation methods. - Prospecting, quoting, and sales targets are determined on a yearly basis. - Contacts former CSA Group customers lost to other agencies to attempt to regain work. - Prepares written proposals of cost for services for clients, working with Technical Specialists and Operations staff. - Participates in associations and outside organizations deemed appropriate by management. - Establishes and maintains a list of contacts based on experience, historic utilization reputation, influence, and personal judgment, including supplied contacts, as well as personally developed relationships. - Provides periodic written reports on calls, customer contact, proposals, quotes, expenses, travel, and tradeshow activities, as well as oral presentation as required. - Evaluates industry reports, territory databases, external competitive information and develops territory analysis or provides input for presentation and reporting to manager. Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years Sales experience or equivalent industry experience. - Prior experiences with sales CRM tracking software a plus. - Proven ability to consistently exceed sales goals. - Proven experience dealing with large organizations at senior level. - Create clear, effective and professional written communication and presentations. - Ability to create, prepare and execute complex business strategies while organizing multiple projects and job responsibilities. - Organized and independent. - Proven ability of confidentiality in previous positions. - Strong initiative and ability to develop new customer contacts. - Able to maintain positive contacts within the organization to exchange, explain and interpret information or ideas and follow-up on client requests. - Strong organization and time management skills. - Creativity and project management skills to plan for projects, events and conferences. - High level of initiative and motivation to meet or exceed targeted goals with minimal supervision. - Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM database applications. - Ability to prepare cost proposals promptly to meet customers’ needs. - Responsive and pleasant when dealing with external and internal customers, peers and co-workers.
