About the role We are seeking one or more senior advisors with storied careers in weather modification, cloud seeding, or closely related fields. This is a strategic advisory role for someone who has spent decades in the field and brings a combination of scientific credibility, operational experience, and deep relationships across the weather modification community. The ideal candidate has led or contributed to field campaigns (particularly international programs), published in the peer-reviewed literature, navigated regulatory and permitting processes, and built relationships with the agencies, operators, and institutions that make up the weather modification ecosystem. We are open to a range of backgrounds. The right person could be a senior atmospheric scientist with extensive modeling and publication experience, a veteran field campaign leader with international operational expertise, a business development executive with deep ties to water agencies and government programs, or a regulatory specialist who has guided weather modification permits across multiple jurisdictions. The advisor will work closely with the founding team, providing strategic guidance on technical direction, commercial positioning, and market entry within the weather modification sector. What you'll do Responsibilities will be tailored to the advisor's background and strengths, but may include any combination of the following. Technical and Scientific Advisory - Advise on atmospheric modeling strategy, including numerical weather prediction, cloud microphysics, and observational data integration. - Review and evaluate scientific approaches, modeling assumptions, and validation methodologies for rigor and operational relevance. - Provide mentorship to the team, drawing on experience from field campaigns, operational programs, and published research. - Help translate scientific results into operationally meaningful guidance. Field Campaign and Operational Experience - Advise on the design, planning, and execution of field campaigns and operational deployments, drawing on experience from domestic and international weather modification programs. - Provide guidance on instrumentation, observational strategies, and real-time decision-making in field environments. - Share lessons learned from past programs to help the team avoid common pitfalls and accelerate operational readiness. Business Development and Industry Relationships - Leverage established relationships across the weather modification industry to identify and facilitate partnerships, pilot opportunities, and early adopter relationships. - Support engagement with potential customers, including state and federal water agencies, agricultural districts, municipal water authorities, hydroelectric operators, and wildfire management agencies. - Advise on commercial positioning, high-value use cases, and how weather modification programs are typically structured, funded, and scaled. - Identify and characterize the competitive landscape, including incumbent operators, emerging technologies, and relevant government programs. Regulatory, Permitting, and Stakeholder Engagement - Provide guidance on the regulatory and permitting landscape for weather modification across relevant domestic and international jurisdictions. - Advise on environmental review requirements, reporting obligations, and community engagement best practices. - Provide experienced presence in discussions with research institutions, government agencies, industry associations, and potential partners. - Help prepare technical and commercial materials that communicate scientific credibility to both expert and general audiences. Preferred Qualifications - 10 or more years of experience in weather modification, atmospheric modeling, or operational meteorology. - A record of peer-reviewed publications in atmospheric science, cloud physics, weather modification, or related fields. - Direct involvement in field campaigns or operational weather modification programs, with international experience strongly preferred. - Established relationships across the weather modification community, including operators, government program managers, water agencies, research institutions, and industry associations. - Strong communication skills and the ability to engage credibly with scientific, governmental, and commercial audiences. - Ability to operate independently and deliver high-impact guidance within limited advisory hours. Engagement Structure This is a part-time advisory engagement on an ad hoc basis. Expected commitment and compensation will be structured to reflect the advisor's background and level of involvement. The role includes an equity component commensurate with contribution.
