Role Description Compass Family Services is seeking an experienced consultant to guide the building of Medi-Cal billing infrastructure for Compass Behavioral Health Services (CBHS). This is an initial one-year opportunity with the possibility for continued partnership for an additional two years. Qualifications - Deep working knowledge of the California Medi-Cal behavioral health system. - Experience with community-based nonprofit providers. - Ability to work practically and collaboratively with an internal team new to Medi-Cal. Requirements - Conduct analyses and produce key deliverables, including service billing feasibility, billing pathway comparison, and EHR system recommendations. - Provide feasibility and revenue analysis, billability analysis, billing process determination, EHR advisory, and internal readiness input. - Assist in building the infrastructure determined in Year 1, including billing setup, billing operations support, and compliance infrastructure. - Support certification application, internal systems integration, and staff training in Year 3. Benefits - Initial contract for Year 1 valued at $30,000. - Potential for continued partnership in Years 2 and 3, with respective budgets of $100,000 and $50,000. Application Requirements - Resume. - Narrative description of relevant content experience, including specific experience with California Medi-Cal, behavioral health billing, nonprofit community-based providers, and the San Francisco county landscape. - Narrative description of relevant consulting or partnership experience, including a brief description of past projects and roles, what the work entailed, and client achievements. - Proposal for Year 1 scope of work, including structure, needs from Compass, availability, capacity, and proposed fee structure. Selection Criteria - Depth of content experience, particularly in California Medi-Cal behavioral health. - Experience with nonprofit community-based organizations serving similar populations. - Practical orientation and ability to work effectively with the Compass team. - Fit within the Year 1 budget. Timeline - Proposals due: Friday, July 3, 2026. - Interviews (if needed): Monday, July 6 – Wednesday, July 15, 2026. - Selection decision: Friday, July 17, 2026. - Contract start: August 2026.
