As our next Interactive Product Experience Developer, you’ll develop interactive product configuration tools using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — transforming prebuilt visual assets into seamless, real-time product experiences across web environments. This is a contract/freelance role with full-time hours, currently slated from April through November. You’re a systems thinker and hands-on builder who can translate product logic into intuitive, high-performing digital experiences. On any given day, you will: Interactive Experience Development - Build interactive product experiences for desktop and mobile web. - Develop logic that assembles supplied visual components into complete, accurate virtual products. - Create configurable systems that combine, position, layer, swap, and update assets in real time. - Implement product-building interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Product Logic & System Design - Translate product rules, metadata, and configuration data into usable browser-based experiences. - Build scalable logic that supports complex state changes, layering, and ordering of assets. - Structure how visual assets are ingested, organized, and rendered within the application. - Ensure systems are maintainable and extensible for future product additions without requiring rebuilds. Performance & Optimization - Optimize rendering and interaction performance across devices and browsers. - Ensure reliable, stable performance across supported environments. - Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and edge cases early in development. Integration & Collaboration - Collaborate with designers, product leads, and platform developers to ensure seamless implementation. - Work with site developers to enable functionality across multiple frontend environments. - Support QA efforts, refine interaction models, and ensure accurate product assembly and behavior. Tools & Workflow Support - Build internal tools or utilities that support product assembly, preview, export, or review workflows. - Contribute to improving development workflows and system efficiency. You don’t just build features — you create scalable systems that power interactive product experiences. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR. Science tells us that the most effective Interactive Product Experience Developers combine strong frontend engineering with systems thinking and performance awareness: - Strong experience with JavaScript in production web applications. - Strong HTML and CSS skills. - Experience building interactive browser-based tools, configurators, or visualization systems. - Experience working with structured asset inputs and translating them into configurable frontend experiences. - Ability to build clean, scalable logic for positioning, layering, ordering, and state management. - Strong debugging skills and comfort handling complex interaction edge cases. - Experience optimizing performance across mobile and desktop browsers. - Ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams. Preferred qualifications: - Experience with Canvas, WebGL, Three.js, or similar rendering libraries. - Experience integrating custom experiences into e-commerce platforms or CMS-driven websites. - Experience working with product metadata, configuration rules, or catalog systems. - Experience building internal/admin tools to support product configuration workflows. This role is not responsible for creating original 3D models, asset photography, or motion/VFX production. BE THE CHANGE.
