Role Description We are seeking a motivated, hands-on emerging field leader who is eager to gain real-world experience supporting large-scale disaster recovery and debris removal operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, thrives in the field, and brings strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. This role is well-suited for an early-career professional pursuing a career in emergency management, construction management, or disaster response who wants direct exposure to Superintendent-level operations. You will work closely with the Assistant Director of Operations to coordinate labor, subcontractors, schedules, materials, and reporting on active disaster recovery sites—often under challenging conditions and compressed timelines. Successful candidates are proactive, safety-focused, adaptable, and willing to commit the time and effort required to support critical response operations, including extended hours and travel as needed. A strong desire to learn, contribute to team success, and grow into future leadership roles is essential. What You Will Do - Assist the Project Superintendent with daily field coordination of crews, subcontractors, equipment, staging areas, disposal sites, and work zones. - Maintain schedules and site mapping based on Project Superintendent direction. - Facilitate procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules. - Confer with and direct personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures on-site, and coordinating various phases to prevent delays. - Confer with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce. - Confer with Project Management and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve problems and improve methods. - Inspect work as to adherence to contract terms and schedules. - Prepare or review daily reports on progress, materials/labor, debris hauled, used and costs, and adjust work schedules as indicated. - Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Emergency Management or related field. - 2+ years of relevant field, project, or operational experience, including internships, co-ops, or entry-level roles supporting construction, emergency response, or large-scale operations. - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. - Travel flexibility. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Working knowledge of MS Office including Excel. What to Expect This is a field-based role supporting active disaster recovery and debris removal operations, often in fast-changing, high-pressure environments. You should expect long days, variable schedules, and work conducted outdoors in all weather conditions, including post-storm or emergency settings. The role requires close coordination with the Project Superintendent, field crews, and subcontractors to keep work moving safely, on schedule, and in compliance with contract requirements. Conditions can be demanding, priorities may shift quickly, and travel may be required with limited notice. This position offers hands-on exposure to large-scale response operations and is best suited for individuals who are adaptable, resilient, safety-focused, and motivated to learn through direct field experience. As a Field Operations Support Associate – Debris, Quality & Compliance you will ensure quality, compliance, and production integrity of our debris removal and emergency response activations. In this role, you will serve as a direct field presence. You will monitor truck & crew activity, verify debris eligibility, and oversee the performance of assigned crews and subcontractors across active job sites. You may oversee between 2-6 field crews, which will be dependent on project scope and your level of experience. Ensure safe and efficient operations in full compliance of the contract scope of work. You will maintain accurate production and load documentation while fostering strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You must be able to work 7 days a week, 12-hour shifts during emergency activations and work in varying environments and climates. What You Will Do Read, understand, and adhere to all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety policies. Monitor work in the field for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility by working close with crews. Daily quantification of trucks and locations, haul rounds, and debris quantities. Verify debris eligibility in accordance with contract specifications and FEMA guidelines. Document and log any ineligible or non-compliant debris promptly. You may oversee 2-6 collection crews. Conduct ongoing field inspections of debris removal activities, work zones, and staging areas. Support the management of contract schedules and agreements, ensuring accuracy and organization. Provide daily report data based on activity. Communicate proactively with your direct report to identify and address issues and prevent disruption to operations. Perform additional tasks as needed to support project success. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum three (3) years of experience in debris operations, disaster recovery, construction, or related field operations. Working knowledge of FEMA debris eligibility and documentation requirements preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word. Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements. Willingness and ability to travel and deploy on short notice to disaster-affected locations. Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, during emergency activations. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working at a lead level on a USACE, FEMA, or other federally funded emergency response project.
