We are seeking an Underwriter NonQM and Non-Agency to join our team here at Cake Mortgage. These individuals will have extensive background making manual credit decisions on a broad spectrum of loans on a delegated basis to include experience working with DSCR, Bank Statement, P&L, WVOE, 1099, and Asset Utilization loans. Key Responsibilities - Be primary point of contact as subject matter expert (SME) assisting salesforce and business partners in structuring eligible loans in conjunction with the Company’s third-party originators. - Interpret and provide appropriate loan solutions for NonQM/Non-Agency loan requests - Analyze borrower’s credit file, collateral and capacity to ensure credit-worthiness - Perform manual underwriting review to ensure loan meets all product and property guidelines of Company and investors, as well as compliance with corporate and secondary market investor standards. - Underwrite Non-Agency/NonQM correspondent, wholesale/broker and retail loans in a timely manner to ensure loan meets all product and property guidelines of Company and investors, as well as meeting all established loan policies, credit limits and regulatory requirements. - Clear conditions timely on loans; affirm data integrity on all submissions - Identify potential misrepresentation or fraud. - Keep up-to-date with all guideline changes and system enhancements. Requirements - Working knowledge of Non-Agency/NonQM underwriting guidelines demonstrated through a minimum of 5+ years underwriting experience on Non-Agency/NonQM products - Experience with DSCR, Bank statement, P&L Only, WVOE Only, 1099 Only - Ability to read and comprehend new programs and underwriting guidelines - FHA and VA underwriting experience preferred - Working knowledge of Microsoft products - Experience with LOS platform Encompass - High attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills - Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision - Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Continuous focus on the customer experience Cake Mortgage does not tolerate discrimination of any type. As we grow, we're looking for forward-thinking professionals who thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments. We are seeking a Mortgage Funder/Closer to join our growing organization. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who is reliable, efficient, has a sense of responsibility, and the willingness to learn. The Mortgage Funder/Closer will coordinate all phases of the closing process including: - Preparing closing packages - Communicating with all parties involved in the transaction - Ensuring that all documentation is complete, accurate and in compliance with legal regulations Will consider remote work if residence is farther than a 50-mile radius from Chatsworth, CA. Qualifications - 2 years TRID experience in funding/closing - 3+ years Mortgage experience - 2+ years Encompass Experience Preferred - Must be able to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced environment - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documentation - Ability to respond effectively and urgently to inquiries or complaints - Excellent problem-solving skills - High School Diploma/GED Requirements - Organize and prepare all closing and legal documents in accordance to state and/or federal regulations - Ensure all disclosures are prepared accurately and in conformance with TRID and Investor policies, guidelines and timelines - Ensure that all loans are closed without delays and comply with company and investor requirements - Confirm that loans are closing only after Underwriter’s final approval - Address questions from internal and external parties regarding closings and proactively handle any issues that may arise - Meet performance requirements (volume, quality, and timeliness) - Work with a high sense of urgency when responding to follow-ups and internal/external communications - Review funding documents for completeness and accuracy, prior to authorizing loans to fund - Communicate with loan officers, processors, escrow officers, and settlement agents to keep them updated throughout the closing process, and fund loans in a timely manner - Ensure that all loan conditions outlined by the underwriter are cleared, performing updated verification tasks, and coordinating with title companies as required - Request daily wires from warehouse banks - Meet production and quality standards consistently - Work independently and manage pipeline to ensure deadlines and production goals are met - Assist with post-closing functions, as needed - Provide daily status to manager on all unfunded loans - Perform other related duties as required and assigned Benefits - Be part of a fast-growing company changing the game in Non-QM - Competitive compensation and performance-based bonuses - Collaborative and entrepreneurial culture - Opportunities for career advancement and innovation
