Collaborate with passionate experts, tackle exciting challenges, and help define the next generation of online sports betting and gaming.  Purpose of the role: As a Data Engineering Manager, you will lead our team through BV Group’s transformation into a SAAS platform provider for gambling services. This strategic initiative is handing the team major increases in responsibility. In addition to maintaining an internal Data Warehouse and some deployed Data Science models, we must now start to provide data under contract to external clients and to maintain real-time data aggregation services as part of the new platform. By the end of 2026, we need to remodel our Data Warehouse and impose proper governance, formalise our external data contracts, migrate our internal reporting stack and build some major platform integrations. We are looking for a candidate with the experience, energy and enthusiasm to lead the team through this transformation. Key Responsibilities: - Management of Data Engineering projects through the scoping, solution design, development planning, and implementation phases. - Line management of the data engineers. Including running engineering sprints, retrospectives and incident reviews. - Technical oversight of Data Engineering’s stack. You’re responsible for data governance and integrity; setting development standards, practices and processes; ensuring stack availability and robustness; driving performance improvements (e.g., upgrades and migrations); and management of technical debt. - Supporting the work of the Data Science and Reporting teams. Including providing custom data transformations to support their use cases. - Collaboration with other Technology departments on cross-company projects. Essential Skills & Experience: - Management experience of data or software engineers, including strong communication skills. - Understanding of and experience with the full software development lifecycle. - Experience following software engineering best practices to develop and deploy applications written in Python. - Experience with the following technologies or some equivalent: Terraform, Git, GitLab (including CI/CD pipelines), GCP (particularly GKE, Firestore, BigQuery), Kafka and MongoDB and Airflow. - Ability to design and build complex data models. Knowledge of querying data and building pipelines with SQL (ideally in BigQuery or similar database engines) and other tools, including working with very large data volumes. - Proactive, independent, responsible and attentive to detail. - Eager and able to learn, analyse, resolve problems, and improve the standard of BVGroup data infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: - Building and maintaining new production services that integrate into the rest of the company's technology stack and provide critical business services related to Data Science/Business Intelligence. - Improving and upgrading the DS stack, including anti-fragility and other technical debt. - Collaborate with data scientists and data engineers to develop best practices, design tools to enable them and operationalise their output. - Contribute to business projects that have engineering implications, particularly on the design of tools and data models and ensuring that engineering requirements of a project are properly defined. - Creating and maintaining build and deployment pipelines to ensure reproducible builds can be tested and deployed quickly and effectively. - Working with team lead to scope projects, including designing production services and integrations, and planning development work. Key Responsibilities: - Supporting one or more cross‑functional teams in delivering business initiatives and acting as a hands‑on partner throughout the delivery process. - Breaking down requirements, analysing dependencies and helping teams plan achievable milestones. - Tracking delivery progress, identifying risks early and communicating updates clearly to stakeholders. - Facilitating strong communication between engineering, product and leadership teams to ensure aligned expectations. - Guiding teams through requirement analysis using user stories, epics and supporting documentation. - Removing blockers, managing escalations and balancing competing priorities to maintain momentum. - Encouraging continuous improvement by refining processes, tools and best practices across delivery teams. - Helping teams improve performance through coaching, facilitation and effective problem‑solving. Skills & Experience: - 3+ years' experience as a Project Manager or Business Analyst within software or technical environments. - Strong understanding of project management methods and the ability to apply the right approach for each situation. - Strong analytical thinking with the ability to work with complex concepts and imperfect data. - Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate, influence and collaborate across multiple teams. - Highly organised and able to manage shifting priorities without losing sight of key objectives. - Strategic mindset with the ability to think ahead and anticipate challenges. - Strong technical understanding and the ability to work closely and effectively with engineering teams. - Results‑driven, proactive and comfortable taking initiative to move projects forward.
