We provide services to cities that help governments improve the quality of life of their citizens. BA works across nine (9) different focus areas: Cultural Assets Management, Marketing & Communications, Media and Digital Strategies, Municipal Integrity, Social Services, Sustainability, Transportation, Economic Development and Urban Planning, with teams that have deep subject matter expertise and extensive experience in municipal government. The Position Bloomberg Associates seeks a fellow for six months to assist the Cultural Assets Management team in its engagement with London's borough of Lambeth. This role will primarily focus on cataloguing the borough's creative infrastructure and conducting a gap analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role is fully remote and part-time, working an average of 20 hours per week. The Fellow would be on a six-month contract. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Support the Bloomberg Associates (BA) Cultural Assets Management team with: - Verifying and cleaning existing datasets of creative infrastructure in the borough - Researching supplementary data sources - Developing a master dataset with consistent categorization and details - Conduct a gap analysis to inform future investments - Assist in development of an accompanying map Qualifications of the ideal candidate - Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of two years’ relevant professional experience in arts and cultural nonprofit sector, urban planning, and/or city government. - Master’s degree is a plus - Outstanding research and organizational skills - Fluency in Microsoft Excel or other data software - Familiarity with ArcGIS or other mapping software is a plus Accommodation Bloomberg Philanthropies provides reasonable adjustment/accommodation to individuals with disabilities. The Position We are seeking a highly motivated Cybersecurity & Technology Fellow to join our small, dynamic team. The Fellow will conduct research and data analysis that informs Bloomberg Associates’ municipal cybersecurity engagements with client cities. This fellowship is designed for graduate students or early-career professionals seeking hands-on exposure to municipal cybersecurity and public sector technology strategy. This role is fully remote and part-time, working an average of 20 hours per week. The Fellow would be on a 6-month contract. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Conduct thorough research on municipal cybersecurity and technology topics, including but not limited to ransomware, artificial intelligence, smart cities, and government regulation - Perform research on publicly available information, including city technology department budgets, staffing models, and strategic plans - Support the preparation of client deliverables, including memos, reports, PowerPoint decks, and spreadsheets - Participate in and support client meetings through note-taking, action tracking, and preparation of materials - Draft best practice guides on additional topics relating to cybersecurity and technology - Contribute to the development of reusable tools, templates, and guidance documents for use across client cities - Synthesize insights across client engagements to identify common challenges, trends, and emerging best practices Qualifications of the ideal candidate - Currently enrolled in or recently completed a graduate program (or equivalent academic experience) in cybersecurity, information systems, public policy, or a related field - Strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals (threats, vulnerabilities, risk mitigation) - Demonstrated interest in technology through coursework, research, projects, or internships - Ability to work independently in a remote, small-team environment with strong ownership and initiative - High attention to detail - Comfort working with data in Excel and preparing presentations in PowerPoint - Ability to translate complex information into clear, concise written and visual materials - Genuine interest in municipal government and public service Accommodation Bloomberg Philanthropies provides reasonable adjustment/accommodation to individuals with disabilities. The Position The Economic Development Team at Bloomberg Associates is seeking a Fellow to support the team on a range of economic and workforce development projects with US client cities. The Team supports clients on economic strategy, sector-based business development, small business support, neighborhood development, workforce development, commercial property regeneration projects, tourism promotion and strategic support. The Fellow would work about 15 to 20 hours a week, with regular hours over at least 4 days a week. The Fellow would be on an initial 6-month contract. The Fellow would work remotely but should be located in the New York metro area to attend periodic meetings at the Bloomberg Associates office. They will need to be a self-starter, highly organized, an excellent communicator and comfortable working with limited supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Conduct independent in depth research, international best practice review, and policy analysis in areas which could include, but not be limited to: - Business Sector Ecosystem Development: Models and strategies for business ecosystem development in tech, manufacturing, life sciences and emerging industries with a focus on startup ecosystems. - Small Business and Entrepreneurship Support: Strategies and programs to support and strengthen local small businesses including financing, technical assistance, digital tools, ecosystem mapping and development. - Downtown and Neighborhood Revitalization: Neighborhood revitalization strategy, commercial corridor retail activation, partner capacity building and development, downtown recovery and revitalization. - Workforce Development: Programs and services mapping, labor market analysis, career pathway development, program development. - Financing and Incentives: Tax incentive evaluation, land value capture mechanisms, development support, and other business financing programs. - Strategy and Systems: Equitable economic development strategies, growth plans, economic development systems improvement, organizational capacity building. - Destination promotion: Analyzing different destination marketing organizations’ scopes, structures, budgets, funding streams, resources, partnerships, programming and effectiveness - Commercial Real Estate Development and Regeneration: Concept planning and development, site constraint analysis, programming and activation, land use strategies, community engagement, public-private partnerships. - Other qualitative and quantitative research as assigned - Develop memos, research papers, case studies and presentations based on research findings. - Identify, outreach to and conduct interviews with senior government, academic, nonprofit and business leaders as part of research projects. - Engage, coordinate with and present to project clients Qualifications of the ideal candidate - Bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of two years’ relevant professional experience in business, government and/or nonprofit organizations.
