Role Description The VR Peer Support Coach is a remote, non-clinical role supporting members using virtual reality (VR) programs for chronic pain and mental wellness. Grounded in lived experience, coaches provide empathetic, one-on-one support to help members onboard, navigate the VR platform, and build consistent engagement with self-regulation tools. - Conduct video or phone sessions, starting with onboarding and continuing with regular check-ins. - Help members overcome technical and emotional barriers using approaches like motivational interviewing, habit-building, and supportive accountability. - Maintain clear non-clinical boundaries. - Document interactions, collaborate with the team, and escalate issues as needed. Qualifications - Lived experience with chronic pain and/or mental health challenges. - Strong communication skills. - Comfort with technology. - Experience in peer support or coaching is preferred. Requirements - First-hand experience with chronic pain or mental wellness diagnosis. - Interest in flexible session-based 1099-contracting work. - Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort talking on video calls and over the phone. - Comfortable making outbound calls. - Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and work independently within established procedures. - Comfortable with technology (variety of technology apps including Google Suite, SLACK, and our software portal). - Must be able to pass a background check. - Must be willing to complete HIPAA certification before starting. - Must have a laptop or a Chromebook with at least 16 GB. Peer Support Coach Better Health is creating a new medical provider type, disrupting the $60B home medical supply industry. How? By bundling peer support, coaching, education, and home delivery of medical supplies in an end-to-end care solution we turn the focus to our members and help them choose the best medical supplies to address their underlying chronic conditions. Since our inception in November 2019, Better Health has gained Medicare licenses in 48 states, 16 Medicaid licenses, and serves the members of top payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, Cigna, Humana, Florida Blue, and Oscar, among others. As we scale our chronic condition care program for the populations we serve, we are looking to expand our Peer Support Coaching team. Our peer support coaches are 1099-contractors with flexible hours and have lived-experience enabling them to be an empathetic patient resource and advocate, ultimately contributing significantly to the positive clinical health outcomes of our members. What will you do as Peer Coach within our Peer Support team? - Conduct initial peer support coaching calls with Better Health members as you support them through your shared experience - Become an expert in Better Health’s product catalog for conditions to provide personalized product suggestions - Construct personalized follow up emails and educational tools for members Sounds exciting? We're looking for YOU, if you: - Have first hand experience with chronic urological conditions and want to give back to the community of people with conditions - Are interested in flexible session-based 1099-contracting work - Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort talking on the phone - Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and work independently within established procedures - Comfortable making outbound calls - Comfortable with technology (we are a start-up, and use a variety of technology apps including Google Suite and our our software portal) Bonus points if: - Knowledge of medical terminology, common products, and evidence-based condition-specific best practices preferred - Secondary degree (Associates, Bachelors, etc) or at least 3 years professional experience, professional certification required if applicable --- Better Health is committed to being an employer that provides not just a good place to work, but a great and inclusive place to work.
