Role Description A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Virtual Casework Coordinator to join the Casework and Community Engagement Team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. - Responsible for the efficient daily operations of the Virtual Casework Office. - Work collaboratively with SSAFA colleagues and volunteers across all Regional Offices to ensure beneficiaries receive a consistent, timely, and high-quality service. - Provide specialist administrative support, including support for the volunteer network and caseworkers, particularly with completion of cases. - Support regions transitioning to the new digital platform, stepping in where extra help is needed. Qualifications - Track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility, or immigration issues. - Knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR. - Experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. - Excellent customer service skills by telephone, e-mail, and face to face. - Proficient in Microsoft Office 365. - Experience in planning and managing own workload with minimal supervision. - Understanding of the way of life for today's Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. - Experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers. - Understanding of the voluntary sector, preferably the military charity sector. Role Description This is an exciting opportunity to develop and strengthen SSAFA's Community Volunteering Service, supporting serving personnel and their families. - Oversee the full lifecycle of community volunteers, from recruitment and development through to supervision, ensuring a high-quality and impactful service. - Work closely with the Serving Community Service Manager and wider SSAFA teams to deliver a sustainable service. - Build effective referral pathways and strengthen partnerships across the Armed Forces community. - Promote SSAFA's support through engagement activities and events. - Identify and secure funding opportunities in partnership with the Grants and Statutory Income team. - Contribute to funding applications and support the long-term sustainability of community volunteering initiatives. Qualifications - Experience managing volunteers, ideally across dispersed locations. - Strong understanding of community service delivery. - Highly organised with excellent attention to detail. - Confident in analysing data and producing clear reports. - Strong communication and relationship-building skills. - Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. - Good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and data protection requirements. - Clear understanding of the Armed Forces community and the unique challenges faced by serving personnel and their families.
