Role Description The Underwriter is responsible for providing efficient, timely, consistent, accurate quality loan decisions on a daily basis and underwrite loans that adhere to APM Underwriting Policy and Procedures as well as adhere to the investor guidelines, policies and procedures. Additionally, they are responsible for answering questions and assisting with problem solving with other underwriting staff. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Respond to both internal and external QC audit findings in a timely and proficient manner. - Underwrite a minimum of 2 loans per day and complete outstanding conditions in a timely manner. - Review files for accuracy and completeness according to the Underwriter Checklist, APMC guidelines and investor/agency guidelines. - Run files through Quality Control tools. - Communicate effectively with processors and loan officers on status of loan files and conditions. - All other related duties assigned. Qualifications - Minimum of 5-7 years current underwriting experience. - Needs to have FHA & CONV credentials; VA credentials would be an enhancement for consideration for the position. - Preferable to be located on Mid West to East Coast as this resource would be required to work East Coast hours. - 100% remote worker if lives out of CA. - Proven Experience with Encompass Required. - At least three (3) years underwriting experience. - Authority to underwrite CONV and when designated authority is authorized, USDA and/or Jumbo products to APMC or investor guidelines. - General experience and understanding of the following products: Mortgage Builder, Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, Internet navigation. The Closer/Funder is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely production of closing documents, reviewing executed documents for compliance with investor guidelines, and preparing the necessary paperwork for loan funding. This role also provides high-quality customer service to APM branch offices, closing agents, investors, warehouse banks, and internal departments. - Perform daily document drawing and funding functions as required. - Problem solve during the document drawing and funding process, collaborating with branches, investors, closing agents, warehouse banks, and settlement agents. - Assist in resolving errors identified by Post Closing or investors. - Provide quality customer service to branch offices, closing agents, and departments through various communication channels, including phone, email, and in person. - Wire loans for funding on a daily basis. - Other duties and responsibilities as needed to meet business demands. Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework or degree preferred. - Minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage loan closing, funding, or a related role within the mortgage industry. - Strong knowledge of mortgage loan documentation, investor guidelines, and compliance requirements. - Proficiency in mortgage software systems, including Mortgage Builder, Point, and Doc Magic. - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. - Strong customer service orientation and ability to work collaboratively with branch offices, closing agents, and other departments.
