Role Description Radia has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Editor/Transcriptionist to join our dynamic team! Once completing approximately 1-2 weeks training at corporate headquarters in Lynnwood, Washington, the Medical Editor/Transcriptionist will be working 100% remotely from home. The Medical Editor/Transcriptionist must have a high-speed internet connection and be able to connect a Radia supplied computer via Ethernet. A test of adequate internet speed to run Radia applications will be required prior to hire. Regular Schedule: - Thursday to Monday: 3:00pm to 11:30pm (40 hours/week) Training Schedule: - There is required training for 1-2 weeks at the Lynnwood, WA office from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. Qualifications - Minimum 3 years’ experience in a healthcare setting required. - Certificate or training in anatomy and medical terminology required. - Previous transcription, scribe, or clinical charting experience preferred. Radiology transcription is a plus. - High school graduate or GED. Requirements - Using knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and experience with keyboarding, produce high-quality medical reports and records within turnaround time expectations. - Recognize, identify, and correct discrepancies and errors in dictations and ordered examinations. - Monitor transcription applications and manage multiple worklists; troubleshoot system problems and correct or escalate to appropriate staff. - Stay abreast of new medical terminology, procedures, medications and other medical language, using on-line and hard-copy resources. Competencies - Accuracy: Transcribes or edits medical records, reports, and documents and ensures they are accurate, consistent, and meet with coding and billing standards. - Analytical Thinking: Discriminates between important and unimportant details, recognizes inconsistencies between facts and/or data, and is able to determine what to do with them. - Attention to Detail: Concerned with the implications of the smaller details of medical reports. - Knowledge of Grammar and Medical Terminology: Has good grasp of English grammar, spelling, and medical terminology related to radiology. • Maintain the BK publication program to achieve the company’s mission through the acquisitions and development of twelve to fifteen new publications and new editions per year • Advance BK’s distinctive ways of acting as a steward of publications and partnering with authors to help BK succeed in the marketplace, in line with its mission • Partner in increasing BK’s profitability and financial health • Conduct active outreach through multiple mediums (digitally and in person) to locate suitable authors • Acquire, develop, transmit, and publish new publications or new editions in BK’s target markets and negotiate and sign those publication agreements, including both traditional and hybrid publishing agreements • Provide focused, in-depth editorial coaching, development, and guidance to authors from publication concept to final manuscript • Facilitate cost-effective design and production of publications by preparing authors for the design and production process, helping authors prepare manuscripts to meet design and production requirements, and ensuring the transmittal of final manuscripts • Assist authors in developing their own effective marketing plans for their publications by coaching them to connect with BK’s sales and marketing staff and efforts. Role Description The Editorial Assistant provides administrative support for the processing and peer review of standard manuscript submissions. Handles routine phone and email inquiries from authors and reviewers. Works closely with the journal’s editorial board to facilitate the peer review process for articles submitted to PNAS. Reports to the Assistant Managing Editor or Senior Editorial Coordinator and keeps them informed about problem papers.
