This position ensures reliable, efficient, and safe electrical infrastructure while supporting business operations and growth objectives. Supervisory Responsibilities: - None Duties/Responsibilities: - Strategic Planning & Design Develops long-term electrical infrastructure strategies aligned with organizational goals. Leads design and specification of electrical systems for new construction, renovations, and major upgrades including power distribution, emergency power, lighting systems, and renewable energy integration. Conducts capacity planning and load analysis to support current and future facility needs. - Operations & Maintenance Management Oversees preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, and distribution equipment. Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (NEC, NFPA, OSHA, local codes). Initiate and lead engineering audits including on-site visits. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations. - Project Technical Support Coordinates with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Reviews and approves electrical drawings, specifications, and submittals. Perform design and equipment submittal review for new and existing Gateway locations that are a 24/7 operational strict SLA requirements. - Energy Management Identifies and implements energy efficiency initiatives and cost reduction opportunities. Monitors energy consumption patterns and recommends improvements. - Technical Expertise & Problem Solving Provides expert troubleshooting for complex electrical issues. Performs root cause analysis for system failures and implements corrective actions. Serves as technical resource for facility operations teams and management. Directly supports operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support. Skills and Competencies: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management - Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail - Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment - Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks - Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality - Proficiency with Microsoft Office - Familiarity with NetSuite - Familiarity with sustainability requirements preferred - Experience with facility and systems monitoring best practices, data analysis, incident management and troubleshooting preferred. Role Description Welty Energy is looking for a Substation Engineer to join our team! As part of the Welty Energy Substation Team, you will represent our client(s) specific to substation design working on projects ranging from 12kV-500kV. While this position can be remote, the hired team member is to be based in the state of New Jersey (currently). Relocation and sponsorship is unfortunately not provided at this time. Your Work Environment at EXP In this role, you will be part of EXP’s Energy Division, supporting projects across electrical power generation, transmission, and substations, including hydroelectric facilities, renewable energy (wind and solar), medium-, high-, and extra-high-voltage transmission systems, and advanced substation infrastructure.
