Senior Software Engineer, Cloud Security Platform
Samsara
• Design and build core components of Samsara's Cloud Governance Platform, contributing hands-on to cloud IAM, security controls, compliance enforcement, and software supply-chain security capabilities. • Contribute to the roadmap for governance and security tooling across AWS and GCP, bringing engineering judgment to prioritization discussions. • Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into automated, continuously enforced controls through direct implementation. • Build and maintain software supply-chain security tooling, including SAST, DAST, and secure CI/CD pipeline patterns. • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Product Engineering teams to implement solutions for cross-functional risk and governance problems. • Share technical knowledge with teammates through code reviews, pairing, and day-to-day collaboration. • Clearly communicate technical approach, tradeoffs, and risks in design docs and team discussions. • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
Job Requirements
- 4+ years of industry experience in software development
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
- Strong programming/coding and design fundamentals (Golang, Python or similar)
- Deep hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar)
- Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM systems, threat models, and mitigations
- Experience designing and operating highly reliable, scalable distributed systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence without direct authority.
- Experience building internal developer platforms or governance systems used across many teams (ideal)
- Background in developer tools, infrastructure, or productivity engineering (ideal)
- Experience with software supply-chain security practices and tooling (ideal)
- Proficiency in Golang, Python, Terraform, or similar platform-focused technologies (ideal)
