• You will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining the core logging, database, networking, and monitoring infrastructure across hundreds of servers. • Implement monitoring for automated system health checks, develop procedures, and maintain system troubleshooting and maintenance documentation. • Collaborate regularly with Engineering teams to improve the company’s engineering tools, systems, procedures, and data security. • Join daily scrum standups. Expect pair programming, engaging in peer code reviews, and using collaboration tools like Slack and Zoom. • Support Infrastructure design, architecture, and implementation. • Communicate with key partners on project engagements.

• Design, build, and maintain core platform infrastructure to support scalable, reliable, and secure services across engineering teams. • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to ensure consistent, reliable environments. • Collaborate with software and data engineering teams to provide self-service infrastructure and platform tooling that accelerates development workflows. • Monitor and improve system reliability, performance, and cost efficiency through metrics, logging, and alerting frameworks (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch). • Ensure infrastructure security and compliance by implementing best practices for identity management, network segmentation, secrets handling, and vulnerability management. • Contribute to incident response and postmortem processes, driving root cause analysis and long-term improvements. • Mentor junior engineers on infrastructure fundamentals and best practices. • Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning, ensuring high availability and resilience of critical systems. • Document infrastructure design, architecture decisions, and operational procedures for transparency and team enablement.

• Lead the most critical, high-leverage infrastructure initiatives across the engineering organization. • Design and own the technical quality bar and architectural standards for Fieldguide’s infrastructure. • Build platforms and AI-enabled systems that unlock new product and delivery capabilities for multiple teams. • Identify and execute on work that materially accelerates delivery across engineering. • Partner with executives to shape and communicate technical and AI strategy. • Ensure infrastructure security and compliance by setting organization-wide standards for identity management, network segmentation, secrets handling, and vulnerability management. • Bootstrap large reliability, automation, and platform initiatives that fundamentally improve how teams operate. • Mentor senior engineers and tech leads to become force multipliers themselves. • Remain hands-on where it creates the greatest leverage — including incident response, architecture reviews, and high-stakes technical decisions. • Represent Fieldguide’s technical excellence and help attract top-tier infrastructure talent.
