DevOps Engineer II

Role Description DSN is seeking a DevOps Engineer II to join a federal government engineering team supporting the delivery and operation of mission-critical software systems. This role is well suited to a candidate with 3-5 years of hands-on DevOps experience who is ready to take on more ownership within a federal engineering environment. Due to the sensitive nature of the program, specific project and mission details are shared with candidates as they progress through the interview process. Team Structure This position works closely with a cross-functional engineering team, including full stack developers building applications on Angular (front end) and Java and PHP (back end), with AI-assisted development support. The role also partners closely with manual QA testers to ensure release quality and stability. This is a fully remote position; candidates must be able to work core hours aligned to U.S. Eastern Time. Responsibilities - Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines supporting Angular, Java, and PHP application deployments - Manage infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation - Support containerization and orchestration efforts using Docker and Kubernetes - Collaborate with full stack developers and manual QA testers to streamline build, test, and release cycles - Monitor system performance, availability, and security posture across environments - Assist with troubleshooting and resolving deployment and infrastructure issues - Support compliance with applicable federal security and configuration management requirements - Participate in on-call rotation and incident response as needed - Document pipeline configurations, infrastructure changes, and standard operating procedures Qualifications - 3-5 years of experience in a DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or infrastructure automation role - Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps - Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools - Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) - Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell - Solid understanding of version control workflows (Git) - Experience supporting cloud, on-premises, or hybrid environments - Prior experience supporting federal government or defense-related programs is strongly preferred - Familiarity with federal security and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, RMF) is a plus - An active or prior security clearance is not required, but is a plus - Must be a U.S. citizen and able to meet client eligibility requirements for a federal engagement - Must be available to work core hours aligned to U.S. Eastern Time Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience is preferred but not required.
