• Conducting fire door inspections, compartmentation surveys, and other fire safety assessments across a varied portfolio of residential and commercial properties. • Working directly with residents, contractors, and clients on site, building strong professional relationships. • Identifying breaches in fire compartmentation, including fire door defects, and assessing existing fire safety measures. • Producing clear, detailed reports with practical recommendations to help clients improve compliance and building safety. • Maintaining your professional knowledge through ongoing CPD and fire safety training.
Job Requirements
- Relevant experience in fire safety, building surveying, or a related field.
- Experience carrying out fire door and compartmentation surveys, or experience in a similar role.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently and remotely.
- Field-based role covering Central and Greater London, with occasional travel to clients further afield.
- Willing to stay away overnight for jobs that are more than 1.5 hours travel from home.
- Full UK driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points.
- Enhanced DBS check required (arranged by Karntek).
- FDIS Diploma or a recognised fire stopping qualification would be advantageous.

Examples of these improvements include: - Migration of our IT system to a more efficient and customer friendly system with further improvements to streamline the application process - Development of trainee Class 1 Registered Building Inspectors The focus of the work of the Senior Building Control Surveyor is dealing with a day-to-day management of an area for plan checking and carrying out site inspections. This will involve working with other Council services to deliver improvements to our existing buildings such as leisure centres, libraries and housing projects. The ideal candidate will be Class 2F registered and working towards Class 3. You will have experience in building control project management for residential and commercial developments as well as experience in dealing with dangerous structures. Good problem-solving skills and excellent communication skills to explain technical terms and regulations clearly to members of the public and other professionals are essential skills required for this role. You will provide supervision to the Class 1 RBI's at plan checking and site inspection stages.
